This is my first time posting something from The Royal Mint. We mean the main United Kingdon Mint. It is interesting that Commonwealth countries use the term "royal" in their mint: The Canadian Royal Mint and the Australian Royal Mint. But then you have the Royal Mint without mentioning that it comes from the UK, since it is the origin of all Royal, which is something so antiquated in my point of view. If I were Canada and Australia I would rip out the term royal from the mint and that's it or just change the name. Maybe for Canada, I would change to "The Maple Mint" and for Australia "The Kangoroo Mint. I have been running a bit from things from the Royal Mint but I love symbols and mythology and Una and the Lion runs away from the regular royalty thing.

The origin of this symbol is from a poem from the 15th century which brings Una as the personification of the truth and virtue and the lion that protects Una from danger. That symbol was first used as a reverse in a coin when Queen Victoria came into power. After that, it has been used in other coins and also in precious metal bars from The Royal Mint. The Latin sentence "dirige deus gressus meos" means "may god direct my steps" which probably is a wish for Queen Victoria after she got the crown since this sentence is also in the original coin.

The design of the full body of both characters is a novelty since the old designs of the bar had only a portrait of Una and Lion with half of their bodies. The bar can be found in many different weights, this one is a simple one troy ounce of silver, but there a big ones reaching even 1 kilogram. Also, there are many details in the background to help attest that it is a true piece. It came in this closed plastic folder, so I decided to keep it like that to keep its value, but still, I could test with my magnet and I could verify that it wasn't made from cheap metal.

I wanted to post this bar since I got it two months ago, but since I got busy with other posts and also got some other metals that I got more excited I took a bit to finally post it, but here it is. As an update about my stack currently I am filling boxes with some dealers with some nice stuff. Probably I will get some cool shipments soon, I even could buy yesterday a 1 ounce of silver for 43.83 CAD, the dealer was selling 10 pieces for spot price, and it is nice to get these discounts once in a while.

Queremos dizer a principal United Kingdom Mint.

#hivebr
