Breaking the Savings Struggle: A Resolution for Financial Freedom in 2024

It's another year, and the energy and zeal to make the best of the year is at its peak again, as expected, we make new year resolutions, reflect on the previous year, our achievements, fall out, what we did wrong, and should have done right, I also have my relapses that I'm all set to put in my best and change all of that this year, I had big plans I thought would become a reality before the end of last year, and these plans required huge funding/capital and to raise funds, my best bet was to save as much as I can, since getting a loan can sometimes become burdensome especially when starting a new business, not that I wasn't serious with my savings, but I found myself letting my guard down at the slightest want especially when it pertains to my loved ones,

I can't hold on to savings if my mum, for instance, needs money to sort some medical bills, or as a wife who's trying her best to hold the home while my husband finds his footing after a business loss, not forgetting the inflation weighing down on us presently, more bills keep accumulating, my children school fees for instance almost doubled the previous fee this term, and food items also feel the impact of the inflation, we can't do without food, just last night, my daughter was down with a fever, which had me taking her to the hospital this morning, more bills, the doctor prescribed some anti-malaria and antibiotics, apparently the stress of resuming school is the culprit, but what can I do, life goes on but does that mean I have to keep on living this way, not meeting my dreams and keep on going to my savings? No, all of that needs to change and I must devise means to put a stop to this habit this year.

Going back to my savings is the habit/struggle I plan to put a stop to this year so I can make the best of it when the time is right. I need to start budgeting and tracking my expenses. I need to set financial goals and create a plan to achieve them. Finally, I need to create a system to stay accountable and track my progress. How do I plan to do this?** let me take you through the scenario that took place at my local church on the first day of this year...

It is a norm for Christians to be in church the first day of the year, the service is usually organized as a crossover service, so yes, we attend church on the 31st of December and stay to witness the new year in church. One very vital aspect of the cross-over service is to listen and claim the positive prophecies for the new year from the man of God, the Pastor or Prophet, our Pastor started with his prophecy for the new year, by first reflecting on the challenges of last year, then started with positive declarations on how the year 2024 would be a flourishing year for us, everyone shouted Amen claiming the prophesies excitedly, not until he finalized his declaration with, "we all need additional sources of income to enjoy all of that with the present economy", there were murmurs everywhere, but he was right! You can't sit at home and wait for prophecy to manifest without working.* This is one thing I love about my pastor, his realness and not feeding us with fable He believes that God rewards those who work hard and that faith without work is futile. He believes that we must take a proactive approach to achieving our goals and that success will come to those who put in the effort.

How can you earn $100 for instance with an expense of $80 previously per month, and now you have your expenses doubling due to inflation and expect to still have your regular $20 savings on going smoothly, that's impossible and the reality of my country, Nigeria, to help keep my saving intact and meet up with my goals, I will be claiming that prophesy of additional source of income(streams of income as a goal) alongside other ones declared, and also being more strict this time, making sure I allocate resources to what is important and I can afford, cutting off unnecessary expenses, and hopefully by mid year , my savings should actualize that dream of mine, making It a reality, it is one thing to be aware of your struggles, and another to come up with possible solution, this is the very thing i'm aware of and very sure I would try my best to beat this lingering challenge this new year. I will also stay positive and focused and never give up on my goals. I will also look for new opportunities and take risks that will help me reach my desired outcome. Lastly, I will ask for help and guidance when needed.
