Garden pests, worms.

Pests are a problem for the horticulturist, but they are part of nature and we must learn to live with them. It is a mistake to try to eliminate them completely with products that in the long term will be much more harmful to us, causing serious illnesses. In this series of articles I will talk about how to deal with these small, undesirable living beings.

Worms are a problem in the garden, especially in the cabbage family, as they can destroy the entire crop. Without a doubt, the most ecological method is to remove them by hand, but if you have a large crop, then this is not feasible. But if you have time and less than 20 cabbages, the manual method is the best way to do it.
Another solution, although a bit expensive, is to use a bacteria that attacks worms and is sold in gardening stores. It is Bacillus Thuringiensis. This is a good method, but it must be applied very well, because if it does not reach the worm, it will not kill it.

There are other worms that can attack us, such as nematopods, which are tiny worms that attack the roots of plants. The best method to fight against these is to plant marigolds in our garden, as they emit substances that fight these worms.

If we have diversity in our garden and a good number of birds, then they will keep the worms at bay and avoid this unpleasant problem. Birds help more than they harm, don't forget that.

Thank you very much for supporting my blog and I look forward to your comments.!
