I have been reading Saturday Savers and LPUD reports of people from last weekend and a lot of them put my little progress to shame. One and only reason for this is of course me, myself and well… Ernesto. Or in other words, my lack of consistency.
I think by now I have spent enough of time in self pity and it is time for some writing! This weekend I have noticed that my two-tone grape hyacinths started poping up around my garden and feel like I need to do a proper post about my spring flowers, but on the other hand I scrolled through my drafts and I found this draft, full of colourfull summer blooms that I captured last year and I never got to post it.
So this is where I’m going to start my ‘back to writing’ journey, with those beautiful Clematis pictures stolen from the nursery.
I had a serious talk with myself and decided that there should be no excuse not to be able to post at least 3 articles per week on my main account. I’m doing it with ease with Actifit reports on my alt account, so I can do so here too.
Clematis are sure very showy climbers, but those big-flowered varieties are rather tricky to grow and they do love a lot of sun. My friend, Nunzia absolutely adores them and she keep trying and failing to grow them. Maybe at some point I’ll try them too, but I still have a lot of work to be done in my garden before I’m ready to pay for expansive plant to put in permanent positions.
Roses on the other hand I can not stay away from. In my garden I have them in red, bright orange, cream and couple of pinks. I really want this bright yellow rose to join my bunch, but so far I’ve been resisting it, as I still remember both of my previous failures. One suvrived couple years, gave me 2 flowers and died. Second one turned out to be pink 😂
Lupins however are meant to be easy to grow. I don’t know, I never really tried. I always thought of these as weeds to be honest, as I’d see them growing wild in many places in Poland. Somehow it never occurred to me to actually go and buy it.
Of course I took pictures of them, cause they look nice, but with so much variety of different and beautiful flowers, lupins will most likely one of the last plants I’ll ever buy. I do have some seeds of them from a friend though, so who knows?
Next we have aliums. They do look nice planted around the rose bed in the rose nursery we visited, but the spaces between my roses are already taken by other spring flowering bulbs, so you mkst likely won’t see them in my garden anytime soon.
Then there is a hydrengea. Again… not something I’m planning to grow, but this was a very unusual variety that I haven’t seen before. Definitely worth a capture.
Here though is a very interesting plant. I love those cute blue flowers on this bush. Once my garden is sorted I’ll probably venture into this experiment.
No chance I’d ever remember the name of it though, so I was clever enough to capture it for future refrence and for some research of the conditions it requires, before I ape into buying it.

Of course there is always a room in my camera for some pretty dianthus pictures. They’re adorable and easy to grow flowers. I inherited some on my allotment and despite the harsh winter we had, they spread nicely around my veggie path.
Also some nice daisy-like flowers caught my eye. I like the contrast between white petals and dark middle.
And another type. Not sure why I captured this one, as I have the exact same variety growing to a huge size in my front garden, although I’m not too sure if they survived this winter. Nevermind though. They were super easy to grow from seeds and I think I still have some left.
Foxgloves next! Again, not something I’d buy, as they self seed abundantly on my allotment. Very photogenic plants!
They’re grow very tall, so I’d only ever keep them on the allotment. Very good for the bees though, so allotment is a good place for them to grow.
And here we move to geraniums. That bright red variety that back in a day was the only one available. If you saw a bright red flowers growing on people’s windowsill, you knew straight away that they’re geraniums.
These days breeders go iut and beyond themselves to create new and striking colour variations and truth be told - I do love them all. There are always various geraniums growing in my garden in summer. Not so great at overwintering them though 😉
I also captured a few tiny varieties of aliums.
They had them in a few different colours, but white is one colour I always underestimate. I always go for the brightest and most striking colours of flowers, but you do need something gentle like white for a nice contast.
Red and yellows always go well together though and don’t need much other contrast than each other.
I do love to capture hanging baskets arrangements for some ideas of how to arrange my own.
Last, but not least we have some verbena’s. I don’t think any of mine’s have made it through the last winter, so I’ll most likely will be looking to buy some more this season.
They’re also pretty easy to grow and fill up all hanging baskets with an abundance of blooms throughout the season.
So here goes. It wasn’t all that difficult, was it, Ernesto? It’s half past six, dinner is almost ready and we’re wrapping up the article.
Ok, it was a bit easier this time, as I had all the pictures already uploaded here and selecting them and uploading is usually what takes a lot of time. Still, like I said - no more excuses not to post. If it takes 2 days to write, that’s ok. A post every other day is better than no post for a week or two. Fingers crossed I can stick to this plan 🤞
