A pond filled with gold

...and ducks :)

There are a few little ponds in the place I grew up, and every time I visit, I like to check on them. Just to see what has changed or if any new birds showed up. Two of the pods are in a park, and we used to have swans there.
Now it's just ducks. But there are quite a lot of them, and in spring, a bunch of little ducklings show up too.

This time, I went there in the fall. When all the babies are already grown up and the leaves from the old threes that grow in a park change colours and fall right into the water.

You can see all the different shapes and sizes, creating a beautiful gold and orange carpet.

But back to the ducks. As soon as they saw me slowly walking along the pond, they started to follow me. I am almost sure they were hoping to get some food. That's probably what kids from the nearby school do, and they got spoiled :p

Slowly swimming through the leaves...
Most of them are female, and one was less scared than the other.

Even the colourful male kept his distance.

I finally stopped at a small wooden bridge that allowed me to get closer to the water and not have the gasses in front of me. That's also where the majority of the leaves were cumulating.

She swam really close and looked at me :)
Very cute birds!

They all stay around for a few minutes. The male acted like he didn't care, but they obviously wished for a treat. When they figured out they were not going to get anything from me, they slowly and gracefully swam away.

Ducks have such cute smiley faces :)

Bonus shot:
One of he tall grasses that surround the pond with the fluffy head.
They are quite dense and create a nice fence. Also a place to hide for ducklings in spring.

What a great idea to check out the ponds where you grew up dear friend @ewkaw
What a shame that the swans are no longer there, although I must admit that there are beautiful varieties of ducks left.
From what can be seen in your photographs, they are used to the presence of people, they have made a pose so that you can photograph them
Beautiful photographs, thank you very much for sharing this update of the pond birds

Have a lovely afternoon

There is a lot people walking there so they are used to the crowds. It nice that they don't just hide.
The swans were beautiful! I remember seeing them when I was coming back from school.

Have a great evening :)

hello @ewkaw I find that the 3rd photo is the most interesting. I see in this photo the duck in an icebreaker crossing a sea of leaves with its long tail. I immediately thought of it when I saw your photo. On the other hand, it took me longer to find the photo that would have the right angle. I noted the link where I found this photo of an icebreaker. Have a nice day Mr Cat

Hahah yeaaa they swam though the leaves like that :D

These look great. I always thought ducks were so cute. It shows in the photos. But I've never touched a duck. I'd love to pet one someday.

I actually don't remember touching one either. Now I want to :D
