"Tales Of The Empire: Could Vader Have Handled Barris Differently?"

I know there were those (myself included) who thought and would have liked to see a more defining Barris/Vader confrontational moment, but I've thought about that a bit and I think I understand why it didn't happen. I don't think it was due to Vader not recognizing Barris--to attack Barris un-provokingly (w/o her failing as an inquisitor/recruit first) could be a sign of weakness on his behalf, and an acknowledgement of the fact he's been instructed to suppress and is actively attempting to suppress himself: that a part of him that is Anakin still remains. Anakin ofc would have reason to want Barris dead/gone but Vader isn't meant to have a connection to her, and therefore from that perspective I can see the logic behind a confrontation not transpiring
I actually do think that had Barris not defected after her second tale and returned to Fortress Inquisitorious with Lin, and if Vader somehow got word of her hesitancy during their encounter with the Jedi, that could have been Barris' death wish then and there. I would like to think that Vader was just waiting on the smallest of slips on Barris' behalf to have "justifiable" reason to off her.

One thing I have appreciated about the expanded portrayal of the empire we've gotten with shows like this one and bad batch, even back a bit with rebels, was how they're illustrated to not really go out of their way to handle things if it isn't an active issue
plays into Palpatine's overconfidence and arrogance; he believes he and the empire are infallible
it's not until the rebel alliance starts to look like an actual threat do we have them death star-ing planets
I think this kind of POV also really parallels the conversation Palpatine has with Vader about Obi-Wan both in the Kenobi series and in the first episode of Rebels, if I remember correctly. There was no evidence of Obi-Wan's death in either of these circumstances, and yet Palpatine didn't care--to him, how much of a threat could one Jedi Master be, and why waste resources hunting them when those resources could be instead used to enslave another planet and stripmine its resources, for instance
(if the jedi showed up and started causing a ruckus, then yeah, they should be hunted, but if theyre not doing anything by the looks there's no need to actively chase them down)
