after years of debate and planning, the local school for grades 1-7 was finally totally renovated. it's about time as it was already showing serious signs of wear in the early 1990s. the work was finished just in time for the school start this year after the summer break. while the main focus of the renovation was the old school building, the grounds also received a nice facelift. some new apparatus or apparatuses (i had to look up the plural form of apparatus and it is not apparati) were installed. i was lucky to see them just as the work was being completed and this swing was still fastened to the crossbar above.
while i am far too old to be eligible to play on the swing, i did get the chance to once again play at shadow hunting. it's an activity i find rather enjoyable and discovering new, never before seen shadows like these keeps me young at heart. it's a simple pleasure perhaps a bit childish but what's wrong with that?
it seems to me that shadows in general are vastly underappreciated. as shadows are all around us everywhere there is light it is necessary that the eye observes them. yet awareness of their presence remains relatively rare among the general public even in situations where there is obvious and remarkable beauty in their fleeting form.
the more i observe shadows and their connection to both the light and the objects forming them, the more i wonder why so many others do not even take notice, never mind interest. so a big thanks to @melinda010100 and the entire shadow hunters community for all the efforts of spreading admiration and affection for this fascinating element of existence. happy hunting
