The Best Light for Black and White Photography.

I have prepared some photos related to the little walk I did in relation to the golden hour, after so many days waiting for this amazing scenery I finally had the opportunity to take some photos with the light I wanted, some of these photos I shared in my previous post. This time I made a wider selection of this moment because honestly a big part of my desire was to transmit in black and white these images together with other elements apart from the light.

The best light for black and white photography? For me, definitely yes... This is personal as everyone has their own preferences. I think at this point of lighting you can play with absolutely everything and it will express something different to the viewer. The human element is more present in this selection today.

In each selection or set of photos I have a favorite, this case is the exception although I loved this one! The entire avenue was bathed in golden light but I stood on this side to have shadows too and the shadow of that lady walking on the pedestrian crossing is magical.

From the bus station, people walk straight ahead, somewhat silhouetted, and from this backlit angle I was able to obtain this quite interesting result.

See the intense backlight? It looks like fog to me, but no!

I'm not sure if most people appreciate these moments as much as the photographer, maybe not. We can be focused on things as simple as working and not perceive the beauty that nature gives us. This delivery guy is on this light, riding his bike, doing his job. I would love to know that you enjoy this show.

Months ago I was watching some very interesting videos on YouTube about my favorite street photographer Fan Ho, They were specifically analyzing some of his works and came to the conclusion that this photographer in most cases was looking for a light similar to this. He waited for the best light, studied the places where he had to go and did his magic.

The particular thing about him was that he always sought to compose with geometry, which is excessively brilliant in my opinion. That makes me want to try it this way, I'm already thinking about some places that can provide me with something similar, so if I'm lucky, the light is in my favor and I also have the time available, I could have even more interesting results, that excites me very much.

I also have in mind compositions that can be expressed in a cinematographic way, that look like a film (things in my head) If you see this photo, could it look like a scene from an old movie?

Here is a girl in the middle of the avenue, crossing with her shopping cart. Below is a detailed photo of one of the seats at the bus station, backlit and some silhouettes of people in the background.

This moment of golden light is so ephemeral that you have to be prepared to take advantage of every possible moment. In my case I think I realized very late that I had arrived, so I was only about 20 minutes or so, I tried to take as many pictures as possible in the places and angles that I had access to the fastest.

The light was fading, the sun was setting and I was left with fewer possibilities. While all this was happening, I was taking pictures against the light, from the other side of the avenue and something very funny happened to me...

...I was photographing the cityscape on the other side of the avenue and this guy thought my focus was on him, so he decided to take a photo of me 😂 well, I decided to aim on him 🤣 So we were both taking a photo of ourselves.

This motorcyclist waiting for the traffic light to change while in the background you can see part of the residential buildings, balconies and sales. Also part of the bus station.

Before the sun went down completely I took this photo, it was a very quick and spontaneous shot, without planning.

This is a very nice shot, the light, the light on the Chinese girl and in the shadows that cute little dog. You can also see some lines in the floor.

What did you think of this set today? 11 shots to appreciate and tell me which one you liked the most 😁 Do you have any favorites? What is it and why?

Taking pictures in the golden hour certainly leaves beautiful results, either by the softness of the light or the intensity depending on the moment, but it is certainly a perfect time to take pictures like the ones you did, my favorite is this one.

Awesome work bro!

Brother, I love this photo, I don't know what there is to it, it captivates me with it. I'm glad you like this set friend, thanks for stopping by :)

Thanks a lot @monochromes 🙌🏻🖤

Hello nice work @dimascastillo90 , beautiful photos, the light is very important to get good photos, very funny, the image of passerby that I photograph you, the one I liked the most was the cyclist doing, delivery. It looks so sharp and with so much light, it doesn't look like black and white.

I was amazed by the power of light after seeing this video.
