Recoleta in Black and White | Monomad Challenge [ENG/ESP]

Yesterday I was walking around the Recoleta neighborhood, I took my camera and this time I chose the 50mm lens, I walked for about 2 hours taking advantage that these days are very sunny, so I was looking for some strong contrast in this area, a lot of light and shadows because honestly I wanted these black and white photos and I think in the first photo you can notice some of this.

I went into the iconic Recoleta cemetery thinking that they could get this kind of shots there and I got it.

Ayer estuve caminando por el barrio de Recoleta, llevé mi cámara y esta vez escogí el lente 50mm, caminé alrededor de 2 horas aprovechando que estos días son muy soleados, así que estaba buscando algún contraste fuerte en esta zona, mucha luz y sombras porque honestamente quería estás fotos en blanco y negro y creo que en la primera foto se puede notar algo de esto.

Entré al icónico cementerio de Recoleta pensando que allí podían conseguir este tipo de tomas y lo conseguí.

In this photo it is more noticeable, look how the shadows of the chapels draw the floor in fractions while a tourist is taking a picture. It is a pity that while I was taking the picture I was standing in the shadow and not in a lighted part, it seems to me that it would have been more attractive like this.

En esta foto es más notorio, miren como las sombras de las capillas dibujan el piso en fracciones mientras que un turista está tomando una foto. Es una lastima que mientras tomaba la foto estaba parado en la sombra y no en una parte iluminada, me parece que hubiese sido más atractivo así.

When I go out on the streets there is a concept that is anchored in my mind apart from proposing me certain type of photos and it is about the emotional, I will always be hunting for this kind of moments and for this photo I think I got something similar. A lady sitting on the steps of the cemetery entrance using her phone, I took the photo leaning against a wall.

I think it's quite emotional because of her gesture.

Cuando salgo a las calles hay un concepto que está anclado en mi mente aparte de proponerme cierto tipo de fotos y se trata de lo emocional, siempre estaré cazando este tipo de momentos y para ésta foto creo que conseguí algo parecido. Una dama sentada en los escalones de la entrada del cementerio usando su teléfono, la foto la tomé apoyado de una pared.

Pienso que es bastante emotiva por su gesto.

Here we have a photo that I really liked, as I mentioned before I always try to capture people but I also look for backgrounds that call the attention in order to compose a more complete image. You can see one of the towers of the Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pilar, while a person was walking around.

I am very struck by the appearance of this person because of his clothing, I could say that it is a work uniform but it looks like a person dressed in clothes from another era (or it's just my mind wandering 😄) although his backpack is quite particular.

I took this picture by placing my camera flush with the grass.

Acá tenemos una foto que me ha gustado muchísimo, cómo mencioné anteriormente siempre busco capturar personas pero también busco fondos que llamen la atención para poder componer una imagen más completa. Se puede observar una de las torres de la basílica nuestra señora del Pilar, mientras una persona caminaba por allí.

Me llama mucho la atención la apariencia de esta persona por su vestimenta, podría decir que es uniforme de trabajo pero pareciera una persona vestida con ropa de otra época (o solo es mi mente divagando 😄) aunque su mochila es bastante particular.

Ésta foto la tomé colocando mi cámara al ras del césped.

This is quite simple, nothing out of the ordinary... a couple walking through one of the squares of the place, you can see the abundant vegetation in the background and of course the intense heat of these days. Which by the way are expected temperatures that could reach 40 degrees due to a heat wave 🥵

Esto es bastante sencillo, nada fuera de lo común... una pareja caminando por una de las plazas del lugar, se puede ver la abundante vegetación en el fondo y por supuesto el intenso calor de estos días. Que por cierto se esperar temperaturas que podrían llegar a los 40 grados debido a una ola de calor 🥵

This is great... In this area is a couple of old English style phone booths, this lady was there for several minutes taking some photos.

It's a place I'm going to dedicate a portrait session to and I'd like it to be with a vintage concept 😃 using those booths for the main composition.

Esto es genial... En esta zona se encuentra un par de cabinas telefónicas antiguas al estilo inglés, ésta dama estuvo allí por varios minutos tomándose algunas fotos.

Es un lugar al que voy a dedicar una sesión de retratos y me gustaría que fuese con un concepto de época 😃 utilizando esas cabinas para la principal composición.

A group of people near the law school interested in handmade accessories from an informal vendor while other people usually take a bike ride in the area.

A series of street photographs in the Recoleta neighborhood in the city of Buenos Aires that I honestly liked a lot because you can appreciate many aspects and details in these images, besides showing part of the attractiveness of this tourist area. Later on I will be sharing more images of the cemetery that I mentioned before along with some mausoleums 🙂

Un grupo de personas cerca de la facultad de derecho interesados en accesorios artesanales de una vendedora informal mientras que otras personas suelen dar un paseos en bicicleta por la zona.

Una serie de fotografías de calle en el barrio de Recoleta en la ciudad de Buenos Aires que honestamente me ha gustado mucho ya que se puede apreciar muchos aspectos y detalles en estas imágenes, además de mostrar parte del atractivo de esta zona turística. Posteriormente estaré compartiendo más imágenes del cementerio que antes mencioné junto a algunos mausoleos 🙂
