I want to share today about Goat Leg Soup, It tastes very great and this soup is unique. although the name is Goat Leg Soup, what inside the soup are mostly Organs or Innards such as lungs, brains, tongue, eye and testicle. Yes I mean what I write there, Goat Testicle
I brought a friend in the past to eat goat testicle and she got really mad and yelled at me... "are you trying to force me to BJ a dead Goat!!!"
wait... this could turn into NFSW post, let's get back to the foodie stuff
As you can read the above, I put my post title as "SNEAK PEEK", this is due to my health condition. I could not go out to the stall to take some shots. I could not use my left hand today, the skin was peeled off and its a bit painful.
I can write but my right hand has Rheumatics. The longer I type, the discomfort started to change to pain. Yes this is the trouble I have if I could not control my stress and my autoimmune conditions one by one coming to peak.
So like it or not, I will have to rely on this youtube video to describe what is Goat Leg Soup. It's a video from Mark Wiens, he is a famous foodie youtuber and he loves to hunt street food in Indonesia.
My Goat Leg Soup
I have been limiting myself not to go out too long for the last two weeks... Everyday I already spend around 12 hours a day on field, so when the work hours is done, I come home immediately. This time I have to order online delivery to get this soup.
Only my father and I who eat goat in our home, the rest are not fond of it. It has strong aroma, so if a person dislike any goat dish,having Goat dish served in your home is a big problematic because the aroma or odor will spread everywhere.
This is the soup. I order the regular one, so no brain and testicle. Brain and Testicle are expensive, the price could go up twice than the normal or regular one. The price would go in order like this:
- Testicle ~ the most expensive one, and easily sold out.
- Brain ~ second on the expensive one, very high cholesterol, don't eat this too often if you want to live long
- Goat Leg, the price is a bit higher than the other, but this is the scam one. Because leg is a small cut, most of them are bones. So we could say leg should cost around the same as brain, maybe higher.
- Regular content, all of these are tagged with same price: eye, tongue, ear, meat, gizzard, intestine, and lung.
My favorite is Brain, Lung, and intestine. I did not order the brain, not because of being stingy... but that's definitely something you should avoid if you know yourself is far from being healthy.
That's a scoop of my soup. If you eat goat dish, make sure you eat any tomatoes inside. Tomatoes have a rich level of lycopene, and you need that to fight all those cholesterol and fat that come from those innards and goat meat. There are goat leg, intestine, lung and goat meat in my bowl. You can see the intestine and the piece of leg clearly in that shots. Those are the focus on that pic.
Anyway this soup is definitely won't be cheap. My order was around $3 without rice. If I ordered the brain or testicle, it could cost me around $6. This is one of the street food that has a very authentic and distinctive taste... So price should not be a variable here, at any cost... whenever you come to my country... You should at least try this one once.
If my condition gets better later, I might get more materials, get better shots, and posted again... As I said before, because it is one of the best street food in here, they deserve unlimited endorsement!
