Lesson #3 - Learn and Understand The DEPTH of Your dCity INCOME

in FreeComplimentslast month

Greeting Fellow Citizen,

Thank you for coming to my weekly dCity post. This post is an important one, because I publish it today exactly after I play this game for 30 days. In this post I will share my third lesson, the most important one after two previous lesson I have shared before:

  1. https://peakd.com/hive-140084/@dewabrata/lesson-1-starting-with-the-tax-refund-fbo
  2. https://peakd.com/hive-140084/@dewabrata/lesson-2-farming-young-citizen-6yd

The lesson that I will share is about LEARN AND UNDERSTAND THE DEPTH OF YOUR DCITY INCOME. It's a bit provocative title I use there, but I think for every players who play this game, they will bump a wall that they need to break using different method than before. The problem is the same, but the solution is different because the bigger your dCity is, the deeper and bigger resource they will ask for improvement.

This post is made a bit scrambled, because I write this in one go, not using some outline as I used to. I will share the resume at the end of this post.

Background Story : 4 days ago

I notice that I need to build up some depth in my dCity since last week. The depth I talk here is about the INCOME. INCOME will generate SIM, however it is not that simple. Why I call it "depth", because it doesn't give instant effect.

We get SIM from Tax Refund. Tax Refund is generated from the INCOME we have. The higher INCOME we have, won't increase your Tax Refund but it will set the limit or max value you can get from those refunds.

Let me show you my dCity 4 days ago...

image.png

I had 38 SIM per day from Tax Refund then I claimed a young citizen. Guess what happen?

image.png

The SIM I got was decreased to 35 SIM per day, I got higher Tax Refund but the Refundable got lessen and it started to kill my refunds.

The following day, as usual I claimed another free young citizen, and things got ugly since then...

image.png

It got to 31 SIM per day, the Tax Refund I got was decreased again.

With good optimism, I told myself, lets fix this trouble. Let's spend big now, then I swapped more than $1 to get 21k SIMS. below was the transaction:

I made quick study about Tax Refund, then I decided rather than increasing tax refund, I would go by reducing the tax. This was what I decide to buy...

image.png

an Apartment and a Law firm, with a total 22.000 SIM. I was very sure this was the best move I made, and the highest expenditure I made on dCity.

image.png

My dCity looked great again, everything back on track and I had some 12 spare citizen I could use for further improvement. I made the best choice, didn't I?

The answer was a big NO

End Result : Today is Disaster

a Fellow dCity citizen, @ramadhanight , tagged me in his post here https://peakd.com/hive-198197/@ramadhanight/trying-to-the-tax-reduces-effect-with-law-firm

saying that:

I'm dropped 3 position into 272 Income leaderboard, with 37 SIM income. Now my friend @dewabrata dropped into 280 position with 31 SIM income, something happens on his City, I guess ?

I said in comment that I would answer it now in this post. He made one big mistake there, I do not have 31 SIM income.

image.png

I have only 23 SIM and my rank dropped a lot

image.png

Do you know why my dCity gets deteriorated like this? It's because I do not have a good depth in my Income.

so after reading some information, post, studying other people dCity... and the most important one is getting good coffee and some sleep... I think I have no excuse rather than start to build the Depth of My Income.

BUILDING THE DEPTH

Ok where is the mistake? It is the Law Firm. Let start from that place first.

image.png

Law firm reduces tax, I have -1% tax now but my total tax is still 100% so in another word, Law Firm is a joke.

This doesn't mean tax reduction (not Tax Refund) can not work. It can, I see some big players get that, but after they activate all... not only Law Firm, but Law Corporation and a horde of Tax Collector.

So in the end, we can not build our dCity with getting one or two NFT only. We can in the beginning, but later after getting on some scale, it won't work anymore.

image.png

Without pushing up my Base Income, my max income will limit my tax refund. Anyway this is not something that missed from my planning before. Sometime Crisis comes, can be an Economic Crisis or other such as Power Outage.

When it comes, and I do not have good amount of Spare... then it's game over like I am experiencing right now.

So what should I do? Buy more Income of course... But let me show you the different with building Depth of Income and just building my dCity

IF DEPTH OF INCOME IS NOT A PROBLEM

I have 13 unemployment, so I can add some building that will employ those poor citizens. I have two Idea in my mind right now:

image.png

Getting two GYMs seems interesting. They will boost 16 popularity and give 10 Income. I need GYMs because they help fighting the Crime Level.

image.png

The second one is getting a Gym and a Weed Farm. Weed Farm is funny, it will give us a shit token called $WEED in our Hive Engine Wallet.

Both option are good, and very affordable with less than 2300 SIM. However they will not give me a depth in my dCity Income.

WHAT I DO TO BUILD DEPTH OF INCOME

image.png

I am getting all of them now, 4 Barbershop for 6308 $SIM. they will give me 32 INCOME, although this is not enough but this is what it means to build up depth.

image.png

Let's see how this gives me for...

image.png

image.png

My income rises significantly, and this send me to rank 268. It's a 24 rank leap. I guess this time I make a good call. I have learnt my mistake and now I believe I have better understanding on INCOME than before.

Conclusion and Resume

As I promise above, I will put everything short and simple here, and sorry if my post here is a bit messed up.

  1. Tax killed your income, because Tax is in percentage %, the bigger your income the bigger it eats. so This is where you need to build up depth. You want 30 Income as the base of Tax Refund, go get 80-100 Income from any cards. It will get taxed. Triple-quadruple from what you need
  2. As your dCity grown, there will be a limit where a single or a couple NFT could not fix your problem. The bigger your dCity, the more $SIM needed to build, maintain or improve your dCity.
  3. Most people end up getting LAW FIRM then learn that it's a useless alone. I do not have to talk a lot about this, I think you will end up the same too and take it as part of the learning curve LoL.

Ok that's what I can share to you from what I learn in the first 30 days. Build a lot of INCOME, build the Depth of your Income, because tax will eat most of it.

and see you next week...

Thank you for coming by and reading my post here. dCity is a city simulation game on Hive Blockchain. It works based on the second layer Non Fungible Tokens (NFT) on Hive-Engine. Those NFTS represents in-game assets, can be a building, a citizen, a park, a background and many more.

You can dig more about this game on their official account here @dcitygame or you are welcome to join our dCity discord here: https://discord.gg/sad99wQG

I might be wrong, and I can find the post that explained it, but I believe your Max Income (no tax) needs to be double your tax refund amount for you to receive all of the tax refund

!BBH
!DIY

not double, but triple-quadruple. Because of tax and the sim support.

so 1 young citizen will reduce

  • -1 direct income from a support
  • x 2,8 multiplier = - 2,8 income

so combined all, 1 young citizen will eat 2,8 income, and you must prepare 1 income to balance the refund... so 1 young citizen needs 3,8 income right now lol

I made the same mistake as you, thinking as long it is doubled, things should be ok

Ahh!, thanks for the info, I will adjust course accordingly

@tarabh just sent you a DIY token as a little appreciation for your post dear @dewabrata! Feel free to multiply it by sending someone else !DIY in a comment :) You can do that x times a day depending on your balance so:

Don't be shy - share some DIY!

You can query your personal balance by !DIYSTATS

Have you check your social support ?
because young citizen cost 1 social support, and the multipllier make it worst.

yap, that's part of it, sim support multiplier

Nice job! I frequently have to go in and add stuff to my city to balance things out. Those young citizens can mess things up a lot, then I had one of my citizen decide to go ahead and die on me... bastard...

It's a challenging game to stay of it! Great post!
!BBH

thanks

I thought this game was a dull one, but as our City grow, it will have different challenges and problems... so yeah, it gives dynamic and excitement to the game

I really only check a couple times a week, and end up buying stuff to balance it back out. Fortunately SIM is pretty cheap!
