Her mind was not right, she put the seashell that looked like a rose "to her" in it, not an actual rose. I must not know the folklore you speak about, but I am glad you liked it.
But she also was spared ... it worked like the tree Moses put into the water, and the tree Elisha put into the river to make an axe swim ... and later folklore tales of alchemy, and poison being made safe for those who need special protection ...
