Hello friends, hope everyone is fine. My today's edition of music inspiration captures a pretty music coverage by Dolly Parton and Dionne Warwick a song that was released in 2023, with the title: peace like a river. We are living in a time where people are in a haste to be celebrated, anxious of reaching their goals on time, terrified of the future, scared of failure, aghast of losing their jobs etc.
On the other hand, some other people have given themselves to alcoholism, smoking, drugs etc while others are fighting to make more money given the insatiability of human wants. All these and more are reverberating instances that could deprive people of their peace and rest of mind. Enumerable number of people globally are in the quest for what could give peace as all efforts seem abortive.
Nonetheless, the assertions above prove that nothing gives peace and hence, you have to create it yourself. However, Dolly and Dionne made use of the abstract:
peace like a river.
On the other hand, no one has ever seen peace in river form as underscored by these artists. However, peace remains an inward atmosphere that only you can create for yourself because what's good for you may not be pleasant to others.
From observation, I have learnt that nothing gives a long lasting peace except you create it in yourself. If one feels it's money that brings peace you'll come to the reality that the more money you make, the less satisfied you become because the need for money is to accumulate more money and this leads to less satisfaction since you have to stay abreast in order to make more money.
Consequently, there is nothing like maintaining peace within you, it creates an atmosphere of satisfaction, self-esteem, happiness and joy. It dissipates every form of sorrow even in the face of lack, sickness, failure etc making it imperative to have peace within you.
On the other hand, both artist also made reference to the deity in the context of their lyric when they said:
Wash me down, Lord
Oh, wash me clean, Lord, wash me clean
It's quite understandable that most people are atheist, probably given to the prevailing issues within their environment or their level of learning or the school of thought they've decided to come to a consensus with. However, when we are washed or delivered of our problems by the Lord according to their lyrical reference, we can then have a long lasting peace which is the focal point and nitty-gritty in this music.
In conclusion, there is nothing that could be substituted with one's peace. Money isn't the answer, alcoholism, drug addiction, smoking etc. We must exert all effort in order to evert and mitigate every form of depression and absence of peace, joy and happiness. Thank you for going through.
