Hello, Hivers and Beer lovers!
This morning we were running some errands and after that, I wanted to spend the rest of the day in lazy mode, and neither my husband nor I felt like cooking, so before returning home we decided to stop at a small Italian cafe not far from home, which we really like when we want to eat well and at an affordable price. The place is called Pastas Dalidia and I have already mentioned it here before.
To start and since it was so hot we decided to order a couple of beers. The place has mostly local beers in the menu and a brand of Italian beer. The husband convinced me to order it to try it with the argument you even could write one of those posts you like about beer on Saturdays. As you can see, he already knows how to convince me, lol. So we ordered a Birra Moretti.
As I had never heard of this beer before, I went to Wikipedia for a wee research.
Birra Moretti (Italian pronunciation: [moˈretti]) is an Italian brewing company, founded in Udine in 1859 by Luigi Moretti. In 1996 the company was acquired by Heineken N.V. The brewing plant in Udine was sold to the newly formed Birra Castello S.p.A., and the beer is now also brewed in different locations including in Manchester, United Kingdom. Moretti is now a brand of Heineken.
So it turned out that now is an "Italian beer" marketed by a Dutch company and brewed in the UK. LOL
I really liked the design of the can with the man with the mustache and hat drinking a mug of beer.
Birra Moretti is a Pale Lager. It is light and has a smooth taste. It was perfect for a hot afternoon and a plate of pasta.
But before the pasta, we had a small appetizer, some olives stuffed with meat, breaded, and served with tomato sauce.
Both hubby and I ordered a pasta aglio e olio with shrimp and sautéed mushrooms. The pastas there that I like the most are the simple ones without elaborate sauces. They taste delicious and it's as if you were eating at the home of an Italian nonna.
And whenever we go there for lunch, I have a hard time skipping dessert because their cannoli are so tasty. So crispy and the ricotta cream is always fresh.
This was my lunch today, “Italian beer" included and this is my to #BeerSaturday week 362 at the invitation of my friend Super Ed @tengolotodo. 🍻
And at the beginning I said I wanted a lazy Saturday, right? So Milo is looking at me while I'm writing like, when are you going to finish to take a nap LOL 😹
