Hello fellow Hivians
My wife and I are on vacation on the Baltic Sea coast (Ostsee) in Garz. I have never been here and my wife was here when she was a teenager. We rented a holiday apartment on Schoritzer Wiek in Garz and share it with my parents in law. Yesterday my wife met up with friends she met at the rehab treatment for her burnout a few years ago. She also slept there while I went on a long hiking tour.
Hiking Tour from Garz over Grabow, Palmer and back
I found a circular hiking tour on Komoot but had to walk to the starting point. Sure, why not, I thought and did not expect that I had to walk over 20km at the end. 😅 Another tough tour but it wasn't as hard as last time when I had the weight on my back.

Startpoint is A and you see the arrows in which direction I walked. Along the way I made some photos. I saw rapeseed and grain fields every where. Seems like that's they only thing the farmers could grow here. I could also see the sea nearly all the time.
On the way I saw an old fire station and neglected buildings, probably a former holiday resort. The nearby beach was nice and I rested there for a few minutes.
Trip to Greifswald
We picked up my wife at her friends house and drove to Greifswald. At first we went over the little flower market, but there wasn't much to see but my wife made some photos of the old buildings.
I love the old doors and cast iron stairs we saw. There was a weird statue which made us think it was slightly sexist. But who knows that. 😁 Questions upon questions! Why is the boy naked? Why is he in this pose? And so forth...
We also went to the little port where we later went again because we found a restaurant with a fish menu. I was wondering how difficult it is to move a sailing ship.
Google maps helped us to find a restaurant with good reviews. It was a restaurant on a ship called Hornfish Bar (Hornfischbar). I ordered hornfish with fried potatoes and my mother-in-law wanted labskaus, a national dish in northern Germany. I had never eaten this before but wanted to try it. It tasted really delicious. My wife had salmon with mustard sauce and fried potatoes and my father-in-law had potato pancakes with smoked salmon. I also tried it once with my wife and it was also very tasty. I had never eaten hornfish before and was thrilled. What was funny was that the bones were light blue and almost transparent. All in all very tasty and everyone was happy. We got also a Störtebeker beer.

The last photos were taken shortly before the ferry with which we crossed on the way to our holiday apartment. We wanted to take a different route back.
Now back in our apartment, I write this text to share it with you guys. Thanks for reading.
