RE: Take a Stand

in Reflections2 days ago

It's funny, as I wrap up reading Brave New World this is a very relevant topic. I hope you're familiar with it, or at least the theme of social conditioning, because it is a huge eye-opener in how easily people will abandon their beliefs for the sake of comfort and safety.

As I was writing, I brought up COVID as well. In retrospect, it is absolutely terrifying to see how close we were to losing freedoms and automny... over the fucking flu lol 🥴 It's insane to think what more could have taken place had it not been for those of us who stuck up for truth ✊ That crowd can continue to double down, but I'll just say it -- you're welcome 💋 Holy sh--

Anyway! enough of my rant. Yes it's essential to stand up for what you believe in, with that keyword being YOU. Not what your parents, or school, or society told you to believe. People should always stand up for their truth, regardless of what it is (because even if the truth is messed up, at least then we know to avoid them! 😂). Thank you for sharing!!

Yeah I think it's really important to find out what we ourselves stand for and not what others expect us to do, with some limitations of course. When we are able to do that, we can truly make differences in the world I think! I have some principles that I stand for that even my wife disagrees with, but the crucial thing is that I stand for them regardless even if one of the most important people tries to challenge me on it. It's not fun sometimes but it's incredibly important when done correctly.

I’ve not read brave new world yet - it’s on my list when I can get back into reading. I read my first book the other day in a while it was nice! I only did it though because we were flying and I had nothing to do otherwise but it was nice to get back to reading.

One of the craziest things about the whole Corona situation is how people who balk at the events of WW2, in how people were tortured and stuff don’t think that what they did was no different. They would have been the same people selling their neighbor down the river to get rid of them because of the motivations of the time. It was the exact same behavior and psychological warfare on the population now that it was then, only enhanced. Really wild shit to think about!
