The art
The art is a remix of a mermaid in a tub made by Daniel Zahn aka doesntfearzeus on thigiverse.
Remix? Well the creator said he loved the idea of the mermaid in the tub however wasn't particularly fond of the mermaid in the tub so he put in a different one.
He also made some versions with seashells covering the nipples or a whole seashell bra, but I went with the free the nip route 🤣
I also included a gif with a turntable but had to make it really small for easy upload
The print
I recently managed to get in on some resin printing and it has been pretty great, the build platform is solid metal and you have to pry the prints off with a spatula, however I bough this flexible magnetic plate it makes taking off the prints a breeze
Right bellow is how she looked like coming out of the printer with a slight rinse.
It came out amazing, and as you can see bellow of the supports separated as I easily took it off the plate by bending it.
Then I put it into wash bucket with some soapy water and turned it on the machine does some ulta sonic cleaning to remove any loose resin
Then the part is removed and the supports are broken off, they came off pretty good for the most part but some section got scuffed or have a bit of a rough finish.
After the removal of the supports I took off the wash basin and put a turn table on putting the mermaid and then covering with the lid.
It gets hit up with some uv light as it rotates and 3 minutes later your part is fully cured before this it is a lot weaker and even feels soft to the touch but after it gets hard just like I was after laying my eyes on this beauty 🤣
I printed it out of water wash grey resin, this resin can be cleaned with water unlike most resins that need high purity IPA and have a lot more toxic fumes, it came out very good however the supports still giving me trouble and some parts did not turn out great after removal I am thinking maybe at a later time I will try to paint the model nothing fancy maybe just a single color to try and hide all the imperfection and give it a nice finish then it's current gray state, also have to experiment with using a heat gun to remove the supports apparently they come out easier and cleaner that a way, although I have been printing for over a decade now this resin printing is a different beast and there is still much for me to learn, but so far I am very happy with the results.
