No yields....no worries. Thinkers corner

in Inner Blockslast year

Pleasant greetings everyone!

I believe wishing y'all happy new year is still in order. Every new year brings with it a feeling of a fresh start. Personally, I see and take the new year as a chance to begin anew, to take a chance at life and do things differently.

Armed with this thought, it is no surprise that with the coming of a new year, precisely a few hours before the clock strikes 12, I get my writing pads and pen ready to happily pen down my goals and aspirations for the new year. Whilst I carry out this exercise, I think of no limits to what I hope to achieve neither do I bother about the "what if's.

As far as setting goals is concerned, I am very adept at it and the rush of dopamine through my veins each time I tick (✓) off an accompliahed goal on my list is very very exhilarating. Thus with this, I am always propelled by this feel good hormone to set goals yearly.

My thoughts paradigm took a shift when I encountered a set back at my job, (caused by covid-19) which led to me not being able to achieve a major part of my scheduled goals. This incident occurred four years ago but I recall the fact that Life moved on. Initially I wanted to feel sour and angry with myself but this saying came to mind as quick as lightning..

Man proposes, God disposes.

I found solace in the fact that "one who runs and lives, lives to fight another day" and also that in life "nothing was set in stone". That year, I truly came to understand the power of human adaptability as I had to adjust myself to the new state of things.

What if your attempts to achieve your goals are yielding uninspiring results? Tell us how you will react*.

Ever since that year, when I set my goals, I make allowances for the "what ifs" and try to be flexible as much as possible. This way, there would be no feeling of disappointment with myself.

I also do something unique and that is to amplify the goals I have already achieved, no matter how little they might seem to be to others. I act like they were all I needed to achieve and slot the remainder goals to the back of my mind, waiting for a new calendar year to set them out and work towards achieving them. This system has worked for me so far.

I have discovered that imbibing this attitude keeps my mind in a healthy and optimistic state, my drive remains unaltered and I stay as cool as a cucumber all year round.

The uninspiring yields gives me no worries for I know that surely when there is life, there is hope".

Hahaha, just great boss boss

Good to hear!

👍

It's interesting to know that you are one of those who make room for the "What If" questions whenever you are setting goals.

Sometimes, experiences can shape our attitude towards several things and the experience you had during COVID-19 surely has a big role to play in the way you approach your goals.

Truly, when there is life, there is Hope.

Thanks for Joining this edition of our Challenge.

Thanks to you as well for the genius initiative.

Eagerly anticipating next week's challenge... can't wait bro

Cute images, Becky.

The fact that COVID-19 helped realize how uncertain life can be was a good experience. Right now, you know that you plant, the next person waters, and God gives growth so you are ready for the inevitable and can take charge of the situation. This is a good plan for the year.

Thanks @sabrinah, God is the one who is sovereign and can turn things around.

Thanks for your lovely contribution. I appreciate you

I think accommodating for life's unpredictability is a great idea. Things may not entirely go our way and we shouldn't stress much over that. We just have to adapt and keep moving forward.

Wishing you a wonderful new year :)

Yes you are correct there. Thanks for your input and I also wishing you a wonderful new year

Staying as cool as a cucumber is very nice, especially when the hit is hot!

It is nice to know you are always taking a chance and work things out to the very best. Also, the presence of Covid did taught you a lesson, and it gave you a hint to pros and cons of life.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
