Ayer fue un día especial que como cada año, nos esmeramos en celebrar de la manera más bonita, pero los tiempos van cambiando y nos hemos ido saliendo de lo convencional para sencillamente hacer del Día de las Madres, un día en el que nosotras nos sintamos bien haciendo lo que más nos gusta.
Yesterday was a special day that as every year, we strive to celebrate in the most beautiful way, but times are changing and we have been going out of the conventional to simply make Mother's Day, a day in which we feel good doing what we like the most.
Generalmente mis hijos y yo lo celebrábamos saliendo a comer, o haciendo una comida en la casa, hoy en día, mi hija es quien comparte ese día conmigo, y cada año le vamos dando un giro a las tradiciones. Temprano salimos a mirar un evento deportivo, y al terminar, nos fuimos de compras a una tienda con ofertas por el día de las madres. A la hora que terminamos, que ya era a mitad de tarde, nos fuimos a almorzar, y yo tenía un antojo desde hace tiempo, de comer los pollos en brasa que en esta zona son una tradición.
Generally my children and I used to celebrate it by going out to eat, or having a meal at home. Nowadays, my daughter is the one who shares this day with me, and every year we give a twist to the traditions. Early in the morning we went out to watch a sporting event, and when we finished, we went shopping at a store with Mother's Day specials. By the time we finished, which was already mid-afternoon, we went to lunch, and I had a long-standing craving for the grilled chickens that are a tradition in this area.
Pero se había ido la luz en los sectores más accesibles, y no se podía ni entrar del calor. Así que decidimos pedirlo para llevar y comer en la casa. La cola de espera era larga porque sin luz, y con señal débil, fue complicado pagar. But the power was out in the most accessible areas, and we couldn't even get in because of the heat. So we decided to order it to take away and eat at home. The waiting line was long because without electricity, and with a weak signal, it was difficult to pay. While we were ordering and waiting, I wanted to take some pictures of the place, I can attest that it is one of the grilled chicken restaurants with the best food and seasoning... it is called “El Manantial”. There are several places in the area and they are listed, this one where we went is El Manantial II, and it is located on Winston Churchill Avenue in El Tigre.
El menú es lo máximo, aparte del pollo en brasa, también lo preparan a la broaster, y lo acompañan con ensaladas, yuca sancochada, y arepitas fritas. Aparte, también preparan cachapas con queso de mano. Las comidas son típicas de esta zona, y el local siempre está lleno. Lo mejor de todo, queda justo al lado de la casa de mi hija.
The menu is the best, apart from the grilled chicken, they also prepare it broaster style, and they accompany it with salads, parboiled yucca, and fried arepitas. They also prepare cachapas with handmade cheese. The food is typical of this area, and the place is always full. Best of all, it is right next to my daughter's house.
El Manantial es tan bueno, que a pesar del calor que hacía, y estar sin luz, había gente comiendo tanto dentro como fuera. Yo no pude hacer eso, prefería comer tranquilita en la comodidad de la casa, ya el trajín de las compras me había dejado agotada. A la hora que llegamos a la casa, ya era más cena que almuerzo, jajaja, pero me comí un gran plato de pollo y yuca con aderezo de perejil, aceite de oliva, y guasacaca, con casabe de aditivo, que me gusta comerlo con las parrillas.
El Manantial is so good, that in spite of the heat and the lack of light, there were people eating both inside and outside. I could not do that, I preferred to eat quietly in the comfort of the house, and the hustle and bustle of shopping had left me exhausted. By the time we got home, it was more dinner than lunch, hahaha, but I ate a big plate of chicken and yucca with parsley dressing, olive oil, and guasacaca, with cassava as an additive, which I like to eat with the grills.
