I have always had a very special connection with the Christmas season, since I was a child my family has strongly cultivated the Christmas tradition and I grew up with that deep-rooted affection for our Christmas customs, from the decoration of the houses to the belief of our children in the arrival of the baby Jesus, but December is not the only month that captures me completely, it is also the month of my birth, so my favorite month is not only one but two, and that is something that I would not change because every time I analyze it, I realize that I enjoy them in the same way.
December
For me this month has something that I still can't describe, it's like gathering an accumulation of memories that fill me with nostalgia, because Christmas is not only to receive the child God in the middle of the reflection of a family and its traditions, but of a whole country wrapped by beautiful customs that range from our hearts to the streets of the city, stores and houses decorated with lights and Christmas motifs that fill us with joy. Not to mention the Christmas music present everywhere, our typical meals that unite the family and the fantasy of giving children the illusion of receiving their gifts every Christmas. It is true that things have changed a lot in my country, and nothing is like it was years ago, but our spirit full of traditions looks for a way to keep that custom alive and we fill ourselves with Christmas, the hallacas, the little tree, the nativity scene, the gaitas and celebrations throughout the month of December as far as possible.
January
My second favorite month is the first of the year, not only because it is my birthday, but also because it is the continuation of Christmas, which somehow is still present the first week of the year.It is also the beginning of a new round of life, new projects, something like a new notebook with white pages waiting to write wonderful things. My birthday is in the middle of the month, but I celebrate it from the very beginning, and even more so the anniversary week. I try to make the month of my birthday a continuous celebration to feel and say with satisfaction, I had a happy birthday. I do everything I like, I pamper myself, I treat myself, and I give myself everything I deserve to the extent of my possibilities, of course, but I put my heart to the cause, hahaha.
I have an anecdote of this favoritism for the months of December and January, and it is that when, for study reasons, I went to live for a couple of years to the city of San Cristobal, I discovered that there the Christmas vacations were extended until late January for reasons of the fairs in honor of their patron saint "San Sebastian", and as my dad was family of Don Regalón, I remember that the rides and gifts did not stop from December until they closed the fairs of San Sebastian. It was the time I most adored that fusion of my favorite months because they became one and I wished they would never end.
