Larry begins his look at today in history from the events of the WWI. He finds out that on this day in 1914, Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and his consort, Sophie, in Sarajevo, Bosnia, sparking World War I..
From the events of WWI, Larry goes to Honduras. He finds out that n this day in 2007, the military of Honduras ousted President Manuel Zelaya from office on the same day as a national vote that, had it succeeded, would have permitted him to seek reelection.
From Honduras, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2007, the bald eagle was removed from the U.S. list of endangered and threatened species.
From the USA, Larry goes to Canada. He finds out that on this day in 1981, Terry Fox, a Canadian activist who lost part of one of his legs to cancer and attempted to run across the country to raise money for cancer research, died at the age of 22.
From Canada, Larry goes to the world of boxing. He finds out that on this day in 1997, Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield's ears twice during a heavyweight title fight, which resulted in his disqualification and the temporary loss of his boxing licence.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Great Britain. He finds out that on this day in 1838, Victoria was crowned the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
