In this video I try the Demo for MegaMan X Dive Offline. It's an Action-Platformer game, It features hundreds of playable characters from all across the MegaMan franchise. You'll see me playing the first 5 stages of the game while learning its systems along the way.
MegaMan X Dive originally released as an Online Game for Android. I heard of it upon release, but I wasn't interested in Online Games with Gacha Mechanics. (I also didn't have a mobile/tablet good enough to run it.) I forgot about it until I saw the game again in my Steam's Feed when the Offline version was released for PC.
Gameplay is similar to earlier MegaMan games, especially the X series. You choose a character and a set of weapons, then fight enemies to reach the end of the stage. The stages are shorter than they were in older MegaMan games. Though it's clear that this is originally a mobile game. The gameplay systems are simplified. While it can be played using a Controller, having a mouse (or a touch screen) is essential to navigate the menus. I wish they made it so everything could be controlled by a controller.
I love the Characters Screen. At the end of the video you'll see me explore all the playable characters of the Demo. They all have something to say too. MegaMan X Dive only has Japanese voices so I don't understand most of them say, and I didn't expect MegaMan (of Battle Network) to sound so young. The animations are very cool!
The Characters the Demo comes with are very Powerful! It even includes 5 Star characters. I didn't see any option to use Gacha to obtain more characters, though. I didn't play everything in the demo so I might've missed it. This is the offline version of the game, but I'm sure some of the Gacha elements are retained.
I'm not sure if MegaMan X Dive has a story mode. The Demo didn't have any. Only various stages without much dialogue between in them. If the full game had any story, I wish they included it in the Demo. The appeal is playing as various MegMan characters so I'm not sure the story is even needed...
What do you think?
