Security consciousness is the watch word. DON'T BE SCAMMED 🙏

in Hive Learners3 months ago

Hello my great friends, I am so happy to be part of this week post. For me this community has helped me to know alot of things that I don't know before now. By just seeing the topics at times, one will begin to ask questions and begin to make enquiry about what to write. Sometimes it becomes so challenging that after making the post I will thank God that I did.

Talking about the topic for edition two in week 124, I have not falling victim directly, but I have series of friends and family members who have been scammed and I have learnt alot of lessons from their experiences. This sincerely is not a very sweet experience because some of them lost huge amount of money that would have been used to do something good, but it all went through scamming.
For me though there has not been a very direct experience like I stated from the beginning of this post, but I was this close to been scammed, but God in his infinite mercy help me out. This may not be the story for others.

When I came into hive newly and my hive mentor introduce me channel telegram of hive users. Just a few days that I joined the group some who noticed me as novice when it comes to online things just DM me and started chatting. He introduced himself and began a conversation. The next thing he told me was that he has been making money through one Link like that and he personal picked interest in me. He told me so many good things about the link that he encouraged me to join them and make some cool money. In fact the way and manner he presented it made me want to join. But on a second thought I remembered my hive mentor warning me never to click any link that any one will introduce to me no matter what. But still I want to make money because when I joined the #hive Blockchain newly I needed money for so many things, more importantly for me school fees and books. The more I want to click, the more my heart is beating faster. I later decided to refuse clicking on the link. But the said person kept disturbing me and and my mind kept telling me that he is an Igbo guy. So one day I decided to check wether what my mind is telling me is the truth. I use Igbo to tell the person that he can't scam me because you can not steal from the bag of a thief. That was the end of his disturbance. He stopped and when I told my mentor she told me that he was a scammer. That one stopped.

Secondly in our discord channel someone sent me a message in my DM and asked me to click a link, telling me that I have won some dollar. I was sopposed to use that link within the space of two day before it will expire to claim my reward. When I saw that I was very happy knowing that I have won something that will be of benefit to me. I was so eager to click the link but something told me to screenshot the message and send to my mentor. I did and she asked me to come over to her place so that she can verify. I went as soon as I saw her message because I don't want to miss that opportunity. Besides I only have one day according to what I was told. When I went to her place, she checked and also screenshot it and sent it to the moderator of that channel group. Immediately the moderator saw it he replied and told us that it was from a scammer and that the person in question will be removed from that discord channel. That was how I was saved from the hands of these two scammer who would have used that opportunity to clear everything that I have in my wallet.

LESSONS LEARNT FROM IT.
After that experience I don't click any link that I just see no matter how good it looks until I have made my research and confirm it.

Secondly, I now know that I have more enemies online than friends. So for me every one is a suspect. I don't just believe anyone or anything I see online.

In conclusion, anyone doing anything online must be very careful. Don't be careless that you believe everything you see or hear online.

This is my entry to this week 124, edition 2: Cuber Security.

I have observed that most people who are scammed are either greedy or they refused to speak to a third person about it – they probably think if they share the news and the money pays, the third person might be expecting something from it.

I can imagine what would have happened if you didn't speak out to your mentor when the message came to you via the discord channel.

Thank you for sharing your story, @adaezeinchrist
One needs to be very careful online to avoid stories that touch

They send messages containing mouthwatering opportunities just to rip people off. Thank God you consulted your mentor and avoided falling victim.

Thanks for hopping in
