As I was preparing this post I wondered which country has the most boats oin the world so I did some research and I found
There are 33 million boats worldwide, and just under half are in the United States, nearly 16 million. But they are not
Americans the ones who like to sail the most, Canadians lead the league in number of boats relative to population: for every 1,000 inhabitants they own 234 boats. Out of a total population of nearly 37 million, they own a total fleet of as many as 8.6 million. At the bottom of the list of boaters are the Chinese, who own only 116,475 boats with a population of nearly 1,400,000,000 (1.4 billion).
In the TOP 10, Canadians lead with a ratio of 234 boats per 1,000 population. the Nordic countries are almost all in the top 10. Finland, Norway, and Sweden range between 75 and 210 boats per thousand inhabitants. The only two Mediterranean countries that make it into the top 10 are Croatia (25 boats per thousand inhabitants) and Greece (17 boats per thousand inhabitants).
Where I am from New Zealand came in at third one one page I saw with 153 Boats per head of population but then on another page I found this
The often- quoted statistic is that there are more boats per capita in New Zealand than anywhere else in the world. In 2014, Auckland had over 135,000 registered boats, or one boat for approximately every 11 of the 1.45 million people living there
So I guess it all depends how they came up with the statistics, maybe some filtered out certain types of boats perhaps commercial or military I really do not know, but with new Zealand being long and Narrow it doesn't surprise me it is up there
That all said I have never been a sailor of any type myself
Next up is this house boat I saw docked on popes Island one time
