Greetings!
There's a common slang in my part of the world that says, "outside is costly," which means that it's very expensive to treat oneself to a nice time in a beautiful place outside your home, especially in restaurants, eateries, cinemas, and other fun places. It's very true; you always spend out of budget when you visit these places, especially when you take one or two family members with you. Especially during this period, inflation affects everything every single second; you'll be surprised that what you bought yesterday for $2 is now $3.10.
This has made me a home person, not getting the vibe to go out and unwind. Instead, I stay at home and watch TV with everyone in the parlor, but this doesn't come out well because almost everyone in my house frowns at the kind of things I watch on TV. When it gets so boring that I just need to be out, to see things and get refreshed from the usual home routine, or to rearrange my brain from the bulkiness of my workload, there's a place I visit, and that's a beach at the end of our street.
Although it's a beach, it's a relaxation center where people pay some fees to gain entrance. Because it's on our street and the owners of the place know me very well, I get in for free. That's the biggest advantage because, most times, I pick four or five of my siblings, depending on who's ready to go. I would just take a little money for soft drinks, and we'll go there, play around, and take enough photos and videos without having to pay the gate fee.
There are a lot of things to experience there. My siblings love to use the water to swim while I stay on the shore under a tree close to the water, watching them and smiling. I love to swim, but I prefer to do it fully naked, as we used to do back in the day when we had different rivers meant for guys and ladies. But for this general one, it feels different. Don't blame me. Lol.
Sometimes, when my siblings get tired of dragging me to come and join them in swimming and I refuse, they end up making jokes that I'm scared of the river goddess because of my fair complexion that resembles theirs. You know the belief that water goddesses have fair complexions. Lol
My preference is just to be there, listen to music from the DJ in a corner, sip the soft drink (yeah, I don't do alcohol), and watch those swimming. Another thing I enjoy is staying close to the water, watching for big fish to crawl out from their hidden dark places to the shore. When you throw a stone, they move back to their dark spot with speed. Each time I see those fish, I smile, knowing that we are forbidden to eat them because we were told that they're the goddesses that own the rivers.😂
