Hello and welcome back to my space!
In this post, I will be sharing with you what I believe is something worth considering as being very central to our personal wellbeing. And, that has to do with being kind or showing kindness to our own selves.

Many times, we are so focused on what is external, or things and persons outside of us, that we so often tend to forget that we need to give some attention to ourselves and our needs.
It is so easy to be carried away in our efforts to take care of other people that we end up failing to take care of the one person that definitely needs our care the most(us, you, me).
Just Try To Imagine
I would like you to consider the following scenarios:
Case number 1
A beautiful, young lady, newly married well trained to always put her husband's needs before her own, prepare meals and keep the house neat and tidy... She focuses on this everyday... and guess what?
The chores seem to be never ending, what with the cooking, cleaning and laundry... Soon she forgets about her appearance, etc etc. Let's not even talk about the tiredness and fatigue that overwhelms her at the end of the day... And then the husband begins to complain of being neglected...
Case number 2
Another example to look at is the case of a mother with a new born baby. She decides to do exclusive breastfeeding so that her baby can get the best nourishment. Very commendable, I did it too, you know.
But then, this mom spends the whole day taking care of her baby plus other chores with so many sleepless nights...
Case number 3
A young man (or even woman for that matter) working in a corporation. This person is so amazing at work, never misses deadlines, so dedicated to duty. But... he keeps working overtime sometimes, because they want to get some bonus or promotion. This guy is working hard and earning a lot, but hardly finds time to rest. It is only a matter of time before his body will yield to the stress it is being subjected to.
Self-care is self-kindness
It is so unfortunate that when people hear you talk about self-care, what comes to their mind is selfishness. But that is not true.
If anyone truly wants to be kind to himself/herself, then it is is important to pay great attention to self-care.
...Whether you are a new wife/husband, a new mom/dad, an employee/entrepreneur, the idea of self-kindness is more about self-care. And this does not have to cost you a fortune to achieve.
Self-kindness includes, but is not limited to the following:
🔸️Ensuring that you stay hydrated.
🔸️Paying attention to what you eat.
🔸️Getting enough rest and sleep
🔸️Practicing meditation and mindfulness
🔸️Being grateful for what you have and where you are.
🔸️Positive affirmations and self- talk.
🔸️Celebrating every little progress and win.
🔸️Don't forget to visit the beauty salon or spa if you can afford it.
🔸️Include regular exercise in your routine, even if it is just once a week.
🔸️Getting a physical checkup once in a while.
🔸️Remember that you don't have to do everything by yourself, so ask for help... even if it costs a little bit of money
No matter how busy you are, you can always find a way to ensure that you take care of these issues.
It is no longer news that our health is closely related to our diet and lifestyle. That is why you have to take what you allow into your body as a serious matter. Be very intentional about engaging the body in movements to help your nerves and joints.
You don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. Ask for help, you will be surprised at how willing people are to help you.
You can only serve others when you have filled your cup, not from an empty cup. You can only love your neighbour as yourself. So, how can you effectively love and serve others while completely neglecting your own needs?
I have written this post as my contribution to the Week 2 Challenge prompt in the ongoing collaboration between #kindness and #dreemport communities. Much appreciation to @gregscloud and @dreemsteem for leading the entire crew in this.
