Gregory won the contract to build the new civic centre for the municipal council. His prototype and cost estimate did the magic for him as it won the hearts of the approving authority. Others who submitted their tenders and bids were astonished as he is just a first timer. They kept wondering how he was able to maneuver the system so as to be selected and given the job.

Soon he was mobilized for the job. First he had to hire labourers to clear the site and make a temporary fence around the site of the complex, so as to restrict unauthorized access into the new site. His projection was for ten strong men to do the clearing for a day. He sat down and counted the cost and luckily for him he was able to t thr needed men.

The next day, they began the clearing but unfortunately were unable to finish all. Gregory got the one wrong. The site needs about twelve to eighteen men to clear. That was bad estimate by him.

He learnt that one too. Whenever he is planning he has to make allowances so as to take care of events like that. Bad estimate does not help anybody at all.

So when it was time to make the foundations, his estimate read fifteen men but when he was hiring labourers he went for eighteen and that was how the job was done. The extra three hands were of immense help to him. He then got that right.

In similar fashion, he continued to make provisions for extra hands throughout the duration of the job and he was never caught up by any delay to the job due to bad estimate which will lead to delaying the completion of the job as planned.
