A horse hair fungus. We see an old lady walking in the nature reserve regularly. Yesterday, she was scratching around down low in some bark underneath some trees. I could not see what she had found, but she happily showed and told us about this horse hair fungus. This lady is highly educated and now retired. She has a friend who is doing a phd study on these fungus and was getting a few photos. They are pretty small, and I must have walked and run past thousands of them over the years without even noticing them.
It was hard to get my phone camera to focus on such a small subject, but when I did, it showed some interesting detais.
