Just after lunch, I returned to my room and as the hour was up on my Freebitco.in account I clicked the blue faucet "Roll" button.
I was only expecting to win 2 satoshi as I hadn't boosted my earnings with reward points.
I barely glanced at the payout, but as my eyes flickered over the number they suddenly sprang out of their sockets!
I'd rolled 09998, one of the top three numbers, and won 21,140 satoshi, which is worth about $20 at current rates, as I quickly ascertained on Google:
The sats have been added to my account, so I should see a boost in my daily interest payment from tomorrow!
Next, I noticed the "Make an extra $5!" link under the green payout notice, so I clicked it and it turns out that Freebitcoin want you to post a proof-of-payment code (which they supply) and a screenshot on a thread on the Bitcointalk forum and promise to pay an extra $5 worth of satoshi into your Freebitcoin account "within 48 hours" of your doing so.
So that's what I did and will wait and see whether the extra sats materialize on my account.
It made me wonder, though... Have the geezers behind Freebitcoin tweaked the algorithm to raise the probability of getting a high score as a way to get members to promote the site on the forum?
Whatever... It was not a bad little bonus for a quiet Sunday afternoon at home. And if Bitcoin gets around to hitting a new All Time High later this year, those sats could well find their way onto the Hive blockchain!
Cheers!
