Changing Gurseerat's school , IAAC - 783

in We Are Alive Tribe11 months ago (edited)

Hello all ,

Thanks God for wonderful day.
Today is day 783 of participation,

In my previous post, I mentioned that we are considering changing Gurseerat's school due to the unsatisfactory response from her class teacher. Additionally, the holiday activity work provided to Gurseerat seemed inappropriate for her age. It appeared as though the activities were geared more towards parents rather than the child's learning. During her first year, we encouraged Gurseerat to complete her work independently, but when it involved art or project work, it lacked the perfection, we can not expect much from a five-year-old. However, the teachers displayed projects that showed much higher levels of perfection, leading us to believe that they were done by parents and not by the students. This left Gurseerat disappointed, and we felt the same way.

Homework should be designed with consideration for a child's mentality and capabilities, without demotivating them.

We met with the principal of another school and expressed our concerns. She took the time to listen and understand our points, assuring us that we would not encounter such issues with their staff. Consequently, we have made the decision to transfer Gurseerat to this new school, hoping that they will fulfill their promises.

This time we went to school with Gurseerat as per instruction by coordinator. The ask to come by 11 am on Saturday. Saturday and Sunday is Gurseerat's weekly off from school so it was easy for us also as Gurseerat do not have to take leave fom current school. We reached on time. When we enter the school we hear the sound of music. After making the entry in main game we go straight to the coordinator. She greeted us and says hello to Gurseerat. Gurseerat also reply back with confidence (some time she does not mix with new person but fortunatelyhere was not the case). She also just general questions to Gurseerat and give us a form to fill. It took 10 min for us to fill the form and so the formalities. Means while the coordinator took Gurseerat to principals room. Principal want to meet the new comers and to take small interaction session with her to understand the kids and understand the kids academic level. After 15 minutes principals called us and explain the conversation she has with Gurseerat. I look at Gurseerat and she was showing the chocolate to me, she got form principal. It was really funny. Principal was satisfied and also explained the process of admission. We also shared our concerns, which she assured to us that they will be taken care.

Following the coordinator's instructions, this time we accompanied Gurseerat to school. The coordinator had requested us to arrive by 11 am on Saturday. Since Saturday and Sunday were Gurseerat's days off from school, it made things easier for us as she didn't have to take leave from her current school. We arrived punctually, and upon entering the school, we were greeted by the sound of music. After completing the necessary entry procedures, we headed straight to the coordinator. She warmly welcomed us and said hello to Gurseerat. Surprisingly, Gurseerat confidently responded (as she sometimes struggles to connect with new people, but fortunately, that wasn't the case here). The coordinator asked Gurseerat some general questions and handed us a form to fill out. It took us around 10 minutes to complete the form and the necessary formalities. Meanwhile, the coordinator took Gurseerat to meet the principal in her office. The principal wanted to meet the new students and have a brief interaction with them to gauge their academic level. After 15 minutes, the principal called us in and explained the conversation she had with Gurseerat. When I glanced at Gurseerat, she was showing me the chocolate she had received from the principal. It was quite amusing. The principal seemed satisfied and also provided information about the admission process. We shared our concerns with her, and she assured us that they would be addressed.

I thanks to @flaxz for the initiative.
