there aren't many wild mushrooms to be found around here these days so i thought i would share some photos from a walk last october
we were out looking for mushrooms in a nearby forest and we came to an area that had a lot of these very delicate looking amanitas. i am not sure of the exact identification but i was very impressed with the nuanced patterns on the hats.
they distinctly reminded me of fine porcelain, each one unique.
my best guess is they are amanita excelsa. i would be happy to hear other opinions
they are certainly not the most colorful of amanitas but i don't recall ever seeing such elegant and refined patterns of the broken remains of the veil that once covered the newly forming mushroom
