This is quite puzzling lol. I think sometimes, past experiences that people have can keep them from fully ascending into transcendental levels where materials things are seen for just what they are. Old habits die hard, they say. Maybe the guru is still caught in that level of thinking.
Rightly said, old habits die hard. It is not easy to quit life and become non-materialistic and I feel that there is no need to do that or prove that, unless genuinely you feel it from within. There is nothing wrong in it, so then why the farce.
True, being on Earth comes with its own cost. It doesn't make sense to be completely detached from it, as this could create imbalances that just makes the journey more hard.
