On this Three Tune Tuesday it’s a Ashlee Takeover Tuesday! Gene did a solo post so Ashlee’s taking over. Picking similar to Gene’s Foo Fighters nineties picks I’ll be choosing a tune off No Doubts nineties releases.
First up
Let’s start with 1999 and the song “New” which was released in 1999 on the movie Go soundtrack. It also appeared on the 2000 releases album Return Of Saturn. It’s basically a #NewWave song.
Second up
From the legendary monster success album it’s the song “Sunday Morning” from Tragic Kingdom” Again already sounding more like a New wave band. Definitely ska pop rock vibes but by this time no doubt was naturally turning into a new wave band.
Third up
This song is called Total Hate '95. This album was put out only 6 months before Tragic Kingdom. The label was holding the record and the future wasn’t clear so No Doubt got permission to record an album for a indie label and toured to try and keep a crowd building. There was a 50/50 chance No doubt was going to be dropped and shelved. Luckily it ended up being released and it blew up.
Bonus!
For bonus pick let’s go back way back to 1992 and the major label debut album. No Doubt was signed to major label in late 1990 and was supposed to be famous years prior. You never know how things will work out. This song is called “Get on the Ball” from 1992’s No Doubt.
