I think the logic is the more things lose their inherent essence, the easier and faster they are to decay, which means the more refills we do to have them, especially those things that are deemed necessary. What's a bit comical to me is that sometimes we will go and get another pair of shoes or even a new phone when the one we already have it's quite functional.
