Blood curdling screams echoed throughout the large hall, and they all quieted to commands, and taunts alike.
No more than three, Dantaro thought as he intently listened to what was being shouted. Heavily armed, if they even dreamt of robbing this place.
The financial district of Talirda was one of the most heavily guarded areas on Jex. Not only did it hold the main HQ of the TPD, or "Peace Keepers" as they're known by the locals. But, the financial district was the main haunt of a group known to every criminal organization who climb above street level. T-TAC.
Well, either they're not from Jex, and have no idea what they've walked into, or, they're Rotchi. The insectoid creatures made Dantaro sick to his stomach, and he didn't care what anyone thought of his opinion of those degenerates.
Rotchi were the worst of the worst; they'd do just about anything to anyone. Their life-cycle was only about three standard years, so by time they reached their third year, they were about ready to die, and didn't have any qualms about carrying out just about any job.
They were weak, and only really posed a threat when in large numbers. The odds are good.
A promotion would be waiting for Dantaro if he was able to successfully quell a bank heist. The thought of a higher paying job was a good reason to put is own neck on the line, but the dream was to gain entrance into the TPD. He failed multiple times, citing poor mental health, but they'd surely ignore that if he had some stripes on his record. Stripes might be able to wash away some of the stains too.
He help the grip of his pistol tight. The crunch of leather gloves on steel. One deep breath. Closing his eyes for a moment dimmed the world. Dantaro drew a mental map of the location.
Beyond the corner was a short hall, which opened out to a larger room. Half on his level, and the other half was two steps up. Dividing them into separate sections was a rail that stretched two thirds of the area. Bankers on the right, tucked safely behind glass. Machines to the far left.
"This will all be over soon," one voice said, it was calm, collected, and didn't sound like a bug voice. "Don't give us any trouble and we will be gone in minutes."
