When you realize that your child is beginning to pressure you about some particular things, I think it’s usually better to have it in mind that such child must have seen what he’s really wanting. Imagine your child getting home from school and begins to cry that you should buy a tab for him or maybe a phone.
I’m talking of a child who didn’t even say that before leaving home in the morning but he came back home crying that he wants a phone. That’s what happened to me sometime ago.
A friend got a new android phone and brought it to school. I really liked the phone and got home yo tell my parents that they should get me a phone.
I cried for a whole week and even fell sick. Then, my parents placed me on a condition. I was supposed to write my Junior School Examination during that period so my parents told me that if I pass the examination, they’d get me a very good phone.
They were always complaining about me sleeping every night without carrying my book for a few hours to read. Just because I wanted them to get me a phone, I made sure that I don’t sleep well at night anymore. I read to the point of falling sick because if you don’t sleep well, you’re likely to fall sick.
I finished the exam after a few weeks but it took a long time for the result to come out.
When the result was released, I came out with flying colors and I was very lucky that it was around the time that my dad was expecting his salary so I waited a week and he got me a phone.
How was the phone and my experience with it?
I had a good experience with it. The phone was a Tecno model. It was very small and the first application I opened on it was WhatsApp. I took it to school on the next day but got seized by my teacher and told not to bring it to school anymore.
The phone really got me carried away because I was so attached to it and almost made me fail the next session because I didn’t read but all I did was press my phone.
You know that feeling of owning something you’ve never had before. That’s how it is.
It was a beautiful experience though and I hope I make my child happy this way by getting her a phone someday.
