This is in response to the contest held by @Indiaunited community, where the question is:
IndiaUnited Weekly Contest #14: - "What is your Favorite food?
This contest is open to everyone on Hive.
Across the globe I feel that India is one place which is full of flavors, we have a vast range of cuisine of our own and we are also good at adapting cuisines of other parts of the world. But if you ask any Indian of their favorite food it will be something Indian only. Every state in India has it's own food specialty.
It is difficult to just point on one food when it comes to the list of favorite foods. Still, if I have to pick up only one food then it is "Chicken Tandoori" It is one of my most favorite food and I drool over it at any given time. If I do not have it at least one time in a month also then I feel like I am missing food overall.
There is a very funny old incident around my favorite dish. When I got married and we were on our honeymoon, which was in 1995, we had gone to Nainital, one of the hill stations in northern India. One evening suddenly I felt the urge of eating Chicken Tandoori and the urge was so strong that I could not control, so I asked my hubby to get it from some restaurant. The hotel we were staying in was not serving so he had to step out. He thought he would find it somewhere near by but strange not even one place had it. After 15 minutes he returned back saying it's not available at any place, and I was in not in a mood of taking a No that day, so I said, go hunt more and get it from anywhere, I don't know how you get it, but you just get it. After all it was honeymoon, so he accepted the fuss...haha. He left and then came back finally after more then 1.5 hour with the dish.
From that time onwards, he makes fun of me saying that we should book our hotels after checking if they are serving Chicken Tandoori or not.....haha.
I am a fan of Indian food, I mostly prefer North Indian food but I also love the other cuisine as far as it is Indian. When I travel also I do try out the local cuisines but majorly I stick to Indian food and I am always on a hunt looking out for Indian restaurants. If I do not get to eat my food for more then 5 to 6 days then I kind of start getting into depression :-)
What is a Chicken Tandoori?
Chicken is marinated in hot spices, ginger & garlic paste and yoghurt and then roasted in a clay oven. The spices added are important because what you use gives the flavor. The chicken should be left for a minimum of 5 to 6 hours after the marination and before roasting it, and while marination there should be deep cuts made in the chicken which allows the spices to get well marinated and gives a good flavor after it's roasted. Adding the curd makes it tender and adds on the flavor.
It can also be made in a normal oven or air-fryer. At home I prepare it in a air-fryer. I made it just 2 days back, if I would have seen the contest earlier, I would have clicked pictures and shared :-) And guess what, tonight I am again planning to have it, but I am going to order it from a restaurant :-)
So this is the food that ticks my senses the most and besides that I even enjoy all other different types of Kebabs and sea food.
