Greetings friends. Today I would like to tell you a little about several things about my poultry. A couple of days ago I received a new feed that is good for them, a feed that nourishes them a lot and gives them a lot to their body.

This feed is ideal for growing chickens, because it nourishes them very well and helps them to develop fat and beautiful. When the chickens are growing, sometimes they are released in a yard and are given food waste or just human food, and this is not the way it should be, because all animals need their own food. I currently have several growing chickens, so this food is very good for them.

Saludos amigos. Hoy me gustaría contarles un poco sobre varias cosas acerca de mis aves de corral. Hace un par de días me llegó un nuevo alimento bueno para ellas, un alimento que las nutre bastante y les aporta mucho a su cuerpo.

Este alimento es ideal para los pollos que van creciendo, pues los nutre muy bien y los ayuda a desarrollarse gorditos y bonitos. En el crecimiento a veces a los pollos se les suelta en un patio y se les da desperdicios de comida o simplemente comida humana y no es el deber ser, pues todos los animales necesitan una alimentación propia para ellos. Actualmente tengo varios pollos en crecimiento, así que este alimento les viene muy bien.

Changing the subject a little bit, but talking about young chickens. I recently managed to get a young chicken of a breed that I like, here in my country we call it "Piroco", they are this kind of hens with bare necks, without feathers. They are not very common, but a rooster of this breed will allow me to have more hens like this, which lay blue eggs and are bigger in size.

During my breeding of hens, I have understood that although they are very simple animals, they only like to eat and eat. The truth is that each one has its own personality. This young rooster, for example, is very calm and peaceful. He is not afraid of humans, in fact one approaches him and he doesn't move, he stays completely calm. Cambiando un poco de tema, pero hablando de pollos jóvenes. Hace poco logré conseguir un pollo joven de una raza que me gusta, aquí en mi país le decimos "Piroco", son esta clase de gallinas de cuello pelado, sin plumas. Son poco comunes, pero un gallo de esta raza permitirá tener más gallinas así, que ponen huevos azules y de mayor tamaño.

Durante mi crianza de gallinas, he entendido que aunque son animales muy simples, pues solo les gusta comer y comer. Lo cierto es que cada una tiene su personalidad. Este joven gallo, por ejemplo, es muy tranquilo y pacífico. No le tiene miedo a los humanos, de hecho uno se le acerca y el no se mueve, se queda completamente tranquilo. Una muestra de ellos son las fotos a continuación:

Pueden ver cómo está tranquilo en la sala de la casa, incluso con mi gata Tchalla observándolo. Me causó curiosidad lo tranquilo y confianzudo que es, algo poco común en estas aves, que son muy temerosas de cualquier cosa que se les acerque.

Precisamente a este gallo y otros pollos jóvenes que tengo, son los que alimentaré con el alimento nuevo que compré. Así se desarrollarán bien y en este proceso de crecimiento crecerán gorditos y bonitos...

Now, regarding another subject I wanted to talk about... be careful with your pets, there are many insects. You see, here in my city the rains are beginning to fall and when this happens a multitude of insects appear, including wasps.

Although they normally do not attack if they are not provoked, the truth is that chicks can be very curious and because of being curious, one of my chicks was stung by a small wasp. It did a lot of damage, to the point that it disfigured his face and swelled up his entire left side, including that side of the inside of his beak, as you can see in the photo below.

Ahora bien, respecto a otro tema del que les quería hablar... tengan cuidado con sus mascotas, hay muchos insectos. Verán, aquí en mi ciudad están comenzando las lluvias y cuando esto sucede aparecen multitud de insectos, entre estos las avispas.

Aunque ellas normalmente no atacan si no se les provoca, lo cierto es que los pollitos pueden ser muy curiosos y por andar de curioso a uno de mis pollitos lo picó una avispa pequeña. Hizo mucho daño, al punto en que le desfiguró la cara y se le hinchó todo el lado izquierdo, incluso ese lado del interior del pico, como pueden ver en la foto de abajo.

I immediately started to look for the honeycomb and the hens had already destroyed it, and I imagine that they also ate the wasps, but the chick was the one who had the bad luck of being stung only by the wasps, because it was small and more vulnerable.

De inmediato me puse a buscar el panal y ya lo habían destrozado las gallinas, que imagino que también se comieron a las avispas, pero el pollito fue el que corrió con la mala suerte de que lo picaran solo a él, por ser pequeño y mas vulnerable.

There wasn't much I could do, though, because at this age there are few medications that can be given to chicks. I decided to take him inside and apply an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic cream around his eye to see how it worked. As you can see, I applied it all over the affected area, where you couldn't even see his eye.

Aunque no podía hacer mucho, pues a los pollitos a esta edad pocos medicamentos se les pueden suministrar. Decidí llevarlo adentro y aplicarle alrededor del ojo una crema antiinflamatoria y antialérgica para ver que tal funcionaba. Como pueden ver la apliqué en toda el área afectada, donde ni siquiera se le veía el ojo.

I had it in my hands for a long time, until without realizing it, the inflammation began to disappear. I imagine the pain I felt was enormous, because he stayed quietly in my hands. But as time went on the swelling started to go away and the chick was more active. So even though his eye was still swollen, I released him to go back to his mother hen.

Lo tuve en mis manos por un buen tiempo, hasta que sin darme cuenta la inflamación comenzó a desaparecer. Imagino que el dolor que sentía era enorme, porque se quedaba tranquilo en mis manos. Pero conforme pasó el tiempo la hinchazón comenzó a desaparecer y el pollito estuvo más activo. Así que aunque tenía el ojo hinchado aún, lo solté para que volviera con su mamá gallina.
