Male or female, we are familiar with the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra. Although for we females, we haven't had a reason to use it, but we must have either seen it or heard about it somewhere while for some men, it is a holy grail to safe themselves from erectile dysfunction. I was reading about a new FDA approved gel that works for erectile dysfunction with the brand name EROXON. So let's look at this new gel and erectile dysfunction.
First, let me say that unlike sildenafil which is a prescription drug, Eroxon is an over the counter gel which means a prescription is not needed to get it. So to make clear, sildenafil isn't the only erectile dysfunction drug, there are other drugs like tadalafil which also is used to treat erectile dysfunction.
Erection is triggered by the stimulation of highly sensitive mechanoreceptor located at the top of the penis known as the glans penis, stimulation of the brain, or by the two which causes the parasympathetic nerve to send signals to the erectile tissues in the penis.
The penis is made up of the Corpus Spongiosum at the lower side which is where the urethra passes through, and two spongy tissue above known as the Corpora cavernosa. These tissues are made up of sinuses which are filled with blood to allow for erection as a result of nitric oxide being released into the tissues. Nitric Oxide is a vasodilator causing the arteries of the penis to expand or dilate increasing the blood flowing into the penis (corpora cavernosa). Erectile blood flow is one of the rapid type of blood flow that can happen in the body as a person can become erect within 5 to 10 seconds.
The gel is suppose to work by massaging it on the penis for 15 seconds before intercourse, and according to the product it will cause erction by first causing a rapid cooling followed by a rapid warming of the penis thereby stimulating the natural erectile response as a result of the parasympathetic nerve fibers sending nitric oxide to the penis.
According to a research known as FM71, 200 men were divided into equal with half be in Eroxon and the other being Tadalafil. In the first 4 weeks of the trial, there were over 4 attempt intercouse to test the severity of their erectile dysfunction and according to the severity of their conditions were classified into mild, moderate, and severe.
With this identified, they were treated with Tadalafil or EROXON ge for 24 weeks after which it showed that 61% of men who used the gel had improvement functioning no matter the severity, and were erect for about 10 minutes but this didn't show better result compared to Tadalafil as it showed that 87% of men had improved errctile functions.
Another research known as FM57 which gathered 1000 men and compared Eroxon to placebo and they found similar effect and result. Placebo was used so as to be sure that it wasn't a psychological effect playing with the result.
In embracing Eroxon, we witness an innovative approach to addressing erectile dysfunction, one that transcends traditional oral medications. As the landscape of treatment options continues to evolve, it is paramount to foster awareness and understanding of emerging alternatives, thereby empowering individuals to make informed decisions regarding their sexual health.
