Shopping for the Year

Hello everyone, I'm so excited writing in this community for the first time. I was so happy when I discovered this community because i love going to the market and love shopping.

Welcome to my blog !

In our state(Akwa ibom) in Nigeria we have different locations for different markets, we have a separate market for foodstuff, a separate market for clothing, jewellery, shoes, and a seperate market for cereals, biscuits and other provisions in both wholesale and retail price. So you don't need to stress yourself trying to locate a particular place to buy anything.

Throughout my childhood, it was a norm for my family to begin the year with a supply of food and household goods that would last us the whole year.

In the former years, my parents usually accompany as we all go together to shop for the year. We sometimes go individually and sometimes we alo go together as a family. It's usually takes a long day because the foodstuffs are plenty.

Unfortunately, given that I lost both of my parents last year, it appeared that it wouldn't happen this year. The loss of all those family plans was extremely depressing.

Therefore, even if it won't be a huge one, my siblings and I decided to carry on with our annual shopping tradition even though our parents have passed away.

We finally decided to go to the market together after much discussion. In order to prevent overspending, we made a list of the items we planned to purchase.

We left for the market early this morning, just as the sun began to appear up over the horizon. We got on a tricycle and headed to the provisions store.

The market was already humming with activity when we arrived, with sellers setting up their stands and consumers starting to come.

We headed first to my parents favourite vendor. We got different provisions like noodles, biscuits, water and other foodstuffs.

After purchasing all of this, we moved to a cereal store where we purchased different cereals.
We stopped by a stationery store to get stationaries for my nephews and nieces.
We all bought this in bulk that will take us through the year.

When we were done with getting things at the provision's store, we moved over to the fruit and vegetables stores.

Literally almost everyone asked of our parents and we were just dumbfounded and at the same time felt emotional.

We also went to the jewellery market to get cute jewelleries for the year.

After we were done, we boarded a tricycle that took us back home. Though we were exhausted, but it was fun and brought back great memories. I can't wait to visit the market again.

Thanks for reading...
