Bloody TikTok

I had everything ready to go last night, and I was about to run a live session and write a short story while I was at it. I hit the button to go live, boom, no access and I have to get reviewed.

No Problem

I figure, meh, it must be normal I guess. It kind of put the coy bosh on my plans, but whatever.

Today, I get back from work and check if it has gone through yet. Access was denied, and my only option was to put it under review once more.

Coupled with that, the video I uploaded today - the only one so far for this to happen to - gets a strike against it for being unoriginal.

I have no idea what the hell that means, and in the explanation they gave me, it said this could happen because a video has been taken by someone else, or it has a watermark on it.

It's literally my video, and there is no watermark, unless, of course, they're talking about the gameplay used. That's copyright-free, so I can't imagine that being the case.

Anyway, I'm kind of stuck in limbo now just waiting to see if this one works.

I Still Have Live Access

I can go live on my mobile and kind of chat to the camera, but the studio version - the one being blocked - is the one I want because that allows me to capture a portion of my screen.

Essentially I'm going to write here on Ecency, and the preview half of the screen will be captured and shown to viewers.

It's kind of good in a way, because if anyone is curious I can potentially promote Hive, and say this is where all of my writing is first published.

I don't know, it's annoying, but I'm sticking it out and just waiting for things to get sorted.

Oops. I expect it's not easy to appeal such things. Good luck with it.

I got the video strike appealed and won. I have no idea what it was about, but at least that's all good.

Also, the reason for not being able to go live is because my account is less than 30 days old, so hopefully, next week I'll be able to do it

It's stuff like this which made me pull back from using TikTok as a sales channel - they had some pretty insane rules. Made Amazon look sane !

The worst was that they set the delivery timescales, based on the carrier's claimed transit time (e.g. for Royal Mail Tracked 48 they allowed 4 days). If there was no tracking showing delivery by then, they'd remove payment from your pending payments, refund the buyer and let them keep the goods for free.

I like the idea of TikTok, but they make YouTube look easygoing.....

I wouldn't know much about the sales side of things, but that sounds absolutely appalling, Jesus. There is no room for the carriers to get into problems.

Luckily, I got the video appealed and won, which is good, so no strikes against me, and the reason I can't use the live studio is because my account is less than 30 days old. So that's understandable, and hopefully, it'll work out within the next week or so.

Good news about the appeal ! I think TikTok is a great platform, and it's nice to have an alternative to the US-based corporations. From what I've seen so far, it's great for creators and as a way for businesses to do informational/promo/unboxing type clips, but not so much for direct sales unless you're the manufacturer and have the margins to cover the deductions.
