Well I'm back to work after the first part of the holidays have ended. Don't feel bad for me because the next two days I telework from home. It's been pretty slow at work these past few weeks.
A little chill and some dust of snow in the air. It's cold enough to keep the little bit of snow we still have at bay. There's also really no bright sun shine to melt some of it away. I was thinking of capturing some cool shadows but there were none to be found outside. It was nice to see clear pavement this morning. The snow crews did a fantastic job clearing roads, flight lines, and parking lots.
Today it was just myself and two co-workers. During the holiday season if not much is going on a skeleton crew mans the shop. We each grabbed our fair share of keys to check out vehicles. I checked out two forklifts and an aircraft loader. I took my time doing this because I needed this work to be stretched out.
Once back inside I check my email at my work station. I had about 10 emails to go through and most were junk. Really not a lot of work to do on the computer today. There just isn't any pending tasks right now. A rarity for me, I had a cup of coffee before and after lunch today.
I decided to straighten up and clean my work station. It wasn't all that messy but it was something to do and it clicked some time off the clock. The rest of the morning before lunch the three of us just had conversations about our Christmas days.
Well lunch time finally arrived and I was hungry. I went to place called Pepper Jax Grill. I walked in and there was a rather long line. There was two people working up front, one cook and one cashier. The cashier not only had to cash people out he had to take the meat off the grill, and finish each customer's order.
After about 10 minutes standing in line the cook asked what I wanted. He slapped the meat on the grill and the veggies I had requested to go with it. Unfortunately the meat stayed on the grill for what seemed like forever. The cashier was now busy collecting funds from customers ahead of me. Once finished he put cheese over the meat than used the bun and spatula to get the meat off the grill.
What you see in the picture is Philadelphia Steak & Cheese sandwich. It also has mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Usually this is a very tasty sandwich but today the meat was dry, the veggies weren't good and the cheese wasn't all that melted. On top of that the bun was also dry and kind of stale tasting. The fries were the only thing that wasn't off.
I was disappointed and immediately lost my appetite. I ate what I could and tried to make it more edible by adding ketchup to it. More than half went to the trash, this bad food couldn't be consumed no more by me.
Well back to work after my disappointing lunch. Here is the phone I have on my desk. Do you you like the hanging fish above it? The phone rang a total of four times today 💤 Three of the four calls were from people I knew. Two times it was the same person who use to work here. He stopped by to say hi and to use our paper shredder. One of the other calls was from one of my coworkers that was teleworking from home. They were having issues connecting to the network which I was able to solve for them. The other call was the wrong number, hehe.
One of my co workers left at noon and the other left at 1:30. This left me alone and bored. I literally became tired and felt a good nap would be in store, haha. No, no I didn't take one. With nothing to do I did find something to occupy my time.
Above is a screenshot from my phone of my addictive game I play too much, haha. Do any of you have a mobile game that you play a lot? Normally I wouldn't be buried in my phone playing games at work. It was so slow and if I hadn't I'm sure my head would be doing some bobbing action. Working hard and being really busy can wear one done but when it's the opposite it can have the same effect.
My boss was teleworking today and since I was all alone I engaged in this paid activity while on the clock, haha. Total screen time probably exceeded an hour. For the whole day I may have been 50% productive. Oh well what to do when you have days like this at work. What do you do when your at work and there is no normal work to do?
Once I got home i took this photograph of the sun set from my driveway. The sun was absent most of the day but found time to show it's power before falling completely.
That is all I have for you today. Make the rest of the days of this year count for something. Take care and stay safe. Until next time!
