The song talks as much about what we can't control as about what we can, it emphasizes that in the end, we always feel the guilt or the weight on our shoulders. That's why we always have to choose well when starting a relationship.

By the way friends if I compare it with other Marc Anthony's hits of that time, like Y hubo alguien or Te conozco bien, I think Maldita sea mi suerte stands out in my opinion because it is without a doubt the best. Of course this is my opinion, maybe some of you like another one. In addition to the lyrics, I like the darker tone compared to the other songs he has done that are more party songs.
