"Virtual Insanity" is a song by British punk band Jamiroquai. It was released on August 19, 1996 as the second single from their third studio album, Traveling Without Moving (1996). The song's award-winning music video was released in September 1996. "Virtual Madness" reached number one in Iceland and number three on the UK Singles Chart. The song reached the top ten in Finland and Ireland and peaked at number 38 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart when the single was released in the United States in 1997. This song is inspired by the landscape of Sapporo, an underground city north of Japan.
This single became a hit for Cosmic Girl and Jamiroquai began to achieve worldwide success. He achieved success with the song's video, which won an MTV Video Music Award in 1997. The film won four awards, including Video of the Year and Best Cinematography, and remains one of the most requested videos by fans.
