Cecilia Island | Canada

It's not every day that you can get into such a cove, we are lucky enough to have a small draft that allows us to enter these rarely visited coves. I was driving the Boat through the bay and the only thing that we have is our eyes in these situations. As the maps are usually wrong, we did check the satellite imagery and it seemed like a clear entrance but it wasn't.

We were only half a metre away from a reef on our port side, luckily my swerve to the right got us far enough and we got into into the bay unharmed. This was also the first day where we had sunshine, which was a good day to go fishing.

DJI_0120.JPG The bay looks much larger from above. It was just big enough for us, as we needed enough swing room and weren’t too keen on using a stern line.

In the shot above, you can see all the rip tides we had to cross. Usually, you can only pass through these areas in settled conditions, as standing waves of up to 2 metres can form. We experienced some rolling, but it was very manageable.
