A couple of days ago I was walking around the surroundings of the Güemes square in Palermo neighborhood, a very nice area in relation to urbanism, aesthetically attractive for street photography, so I always try to take some pictures there. We are in winter season and it usually gets dark very early here, that day it was 4pm and the sunlight was not so strong, surely there was a nice sunset with nice tones.
The thing is that after seeing what I had in front of me this light I decided to take out my camera and spend a few minutes to photograph the area. I did it with the intention of taking cinematic shots that look like they were taken from a movie scene. I have always been attracted to this type of editing and the scenery that day was perfect for that.

Hace un par de días estaba caminando por todo lo que son los alrededores de la plaza Güemes en el barrio de Palermo, una zona muy linda en relación al urbanismo, estéticamente atractiva para la fotografía de calle, por lo que siempre intento tomar algunas fotos allí. Estamos en temporada de invierno y suele oscurecer muy temprano acá, ese día eran las 4pm y la luz del sol no era tan fuerte, seguramente hubo un buen atardecer con lindos tonos.
El asunto es que después de ver qué tenía frente a mi está luz decidí sacar mi cámara y dedicar unos minutos a fotografiar la zona. Lo hice con la intención de hacer tomas cinemáticas, que parezcan sacadas de alguna escena de películas. Siempre me ha llamado la atención este tipo de edición y los escenarios ese día eran perfectos para eso.
There are different ways to edit a photo and incorporate this style, adjusting the color gradation mainly, I use lightroom to edit all my photos, after trying many programs I chose this one and it has accompanied me over the years.
Here I leave you a screenshot, a small example of the adjustment I made, just a little away from the center circle that would be a neutral level, the farther away this circle is the more intense the color will be but there we would be moving further away from the style, after this I adjust the other colors, shadows, vignettes, texture, etc..
Usually I use bluish tones but this time I wanted to add greenish tones.

Hay diferentes formas de editar una foto e incorporar este estilo, ajustando la gradacion de color principalmente, yo uso lightroom para editar todas mis fotos, después de probar muchos programas elegí éste y me ha acompañado a lo largo de los años.
Acá les dejo una captura de pantalla, un pequeño ejemplo del ajuste que hice, alejando solo un poco el círculo del centro que sería un nivel neutro, mientras más alejado este ese círculo más intenso será el color pero allí nos estaríamos alejando más del estilo, luego de esto ajusto los demás colores, sombras, viñetas, textura, etc.
Usualmente uso tonos azulados pero ésta vez quise añadir tonos verdosos.
There are many ways to edit photos in this style but not everything looks good or at least that's what I think, an example of this is architectural photography, portraits if they look great in this style, photojournalism too although it doesn't hurt to do it. Street photography is perfect for this and if we are in the presence of the golden hour or blue hour we can take better advantage of it in composition and editing.
I had said that this is a very nice neighborhood, right? It is, but it is impossible not to see people living on the street, sleeping on the sidewalks and here below is a sample of this. It is unfortunate that this kind of thing is constant and unchecked, but that is a social issue that has nothing to do with this photographic post.

Hay muchas maneras de editar fotos en ese estilo pero no todo queda bien o al menos así lo pienso yo, un ejemplo de ello es la fotografía de arquitectura, los retratos si quedan muy bien en este estilo, el fotoperiodismo también aunque no duele hacerse. La fotografía de calle si que es perfecto para esto y si estamos en presencia de la hora dorada o hora azul podemos aprovecharlo mejor en la composición y edición.
Había dicho que este es un barrio muy lindo, cierto? Lo es, pero es imposible no ver personas viviendo en la calle, durmiendo en las aceras y acá abajo hay una muestra de esto. Es lamentable que este tipo de cosas no tengan frenos y sea constante pero eso es un tema social que no tiene relación con este post fotográfico.
The good thing about the afternoon light or during the sunset is that once the sun starts to go down we have other possibilities of light inside the city and depending on the area where we are we can see how this light draws lines and shapes on the floor, many times we don't realize that but it is like that, so if we look well and have a good eye we can compose images based on geometry, I hope someday I have the time to do it and achieve it.
This is one more spontaneous series that I liked a lot, that's why now I always carry my camera with me everywhere, so I don't miss interesting moments and places where I walk.

Lo bueno de la luz de la tarde o durante el atardecer es que una vez que el sol empieza a descender tenemos otras posibilidades de luz dentro de la ciudad y segun la zona en dónde estemos podemos ver cómo está luz dibuja líneas y formas en el piso, muchas veces no nos damos cuenta de eso pero es así, de tal forma que si buscamos bien y tenemos buen ojo podemos componer imágenes basándonos en geometría, espero algún día tener el tiempo para ello y lograrlo.
Ésta es una serie espontánea más que me ha gustado mucho, es por esto que ahora siempre llevo mi cámara conmigo a todas partes, así no me pierdo de momentos y lugares interesantes por dónde camino.
