@bechibenner searching for gold at the Rhine

Today I’m sharing a few photos I took of @Bechibenner while he was gold panning with a friend on the Rhine.
I had mentioned to Bechibenner that I was interested in gold panning, and this Saturday it finally happened. He wrote me in a comment that he would be in Cologne at 11:00 AM. At that time, I was with my parents, but since the activity went into the afternoon, I was able to join at 3:00 PM. He explained several things to me, like what to look out for and how difficult it is to pan for Rhine gold, how to recognize small particles, etc. With his permission, I took some pictures of the whole process and I’m still impressed by how much effort is involved. A pump powered by a car battery runs water through various mats/sieves where the gold gets caught. He also showed me how to tell if someone has already tried panning for gold there and how to use a magnet to possibly find gold. The whole experience was very interesting. I told my girlfriend about it too, and she would love to see it herself. It was also quite funny how many people walked by along the Rhine, either directly asking about it or just looking longer and closer out of curiosity. Overall, I find it incredibly interesting what Hive makes possible. I think without Hive, I would never have thought to check out how to pan for gold on the Rhine. That’s why I find it especially cool, and also the Hive Meetup Germany, where people from other countries can also participate, including English speakers. It’s amazing how this connects people and how you get to know others who interact on the same platform.
The pictures were taken exclusively with my A7 and the 1.8 85mm lens. I edited the photos in Lightroom. This was also new territory for me in terms of photography, as I usually only photograph landscapes or my girlfriend. 😂 But it was really fun! Maybe I'll find many more interesting hobbies here on the platform that I can join. 🙈
Heute teile ich mit euch ein paar Fotos, die ich von @Bechibenner gemacht habe, als er mit einem Freund Gold am Rhein geschürft hat.
Ich hatte Bechibenner mal darauf hingewiesen, dass mich das Thema Goldschürfen interessiert, und jetzt am Samstag war es soweit. Er hat mir in einem Kommentar geschrieben, dass er um 11:00 Uhr in Köln sein wird. Ich war zu dem Zeitpunkt allerdings bei meinen Eltern, aber da das Ganze bis in den Nachmittag ging, konnte ich um 15:00 Uhr noch dazustoßen. Er hat mir dann einige Dinge erklärt, worauf man so achten muss, wie schwierig es ist, Rheingold zu schürfen, wie man kleine Partikel erkennt usw. Mit seiner Erlaubnis habe ich Bilder von dem Ganzen gemacht und bin nach wie vor beeindruckt, wie viel Aufwand dahinter steckt. Mit einer Autobatterie wird eine Pumpe betrieben, die dann Wasser durch verschiedene Matten/Siebe laufen lässt, wo das Gold hängen bleibt. Er hat mir auch gezeigt, wie man erkennt, ob schon mal jemand hier versucht hat, nach Gold zu schürfen, und wie man einen Magneten benutzt, um eventuell Gold zu finden. Das Ganze war auf jeden Fall sehr interessant. Ich habe davon auch meiner Freundin erzählt, die sich das Ganze auch am liebsten mal anschauen würde. Es war auch recht lustig, wie viele Leute am Rhein vorbeigegangen sind, die entweder direkt darauf angesprochen haben oder im Zweifelsfall einfach nur etwas länger und näher hingeschaut haben. Insgesamt finde ich es wahnsinnig interessant, was Hive so alles ermöglicht. Ich glaube, ohne Hive wäre ich nie auf die Idee gekommen zu sagen, okay, ich schaue mir das mal an, wie man Gold am Rhein schürft. Dementsprechend finde ich das besonders cool und vor allem auch das Hive Meetup Germany, wobei auch Leute aus anderen Ländern daran teilnehmen können, auch Englischsprachige. Es ist erstaunlich, wie sowas verbindet und wie man Leute kennenlernt, die auf einer und derselben Plattform interagieren.
Aufgenommen sind die Bilder ausschließlich mit meiner A7 und dem 1.8 85mm Objektiv. Nachbearbeitet habe ich die Bilder in Lightroom. Das Ganze war auch fotografietechnisch für mich Neuland, normalerweise fotografiere ich größtenteils nur Landschaften oder meine Freundin. 😂 Hat aber echt super Spaß gemacht! Vielleicht findet man ja hier auf der Plattform noch viele interessante Hobbies, bei denen ich mal dabei sein darf. 🙈
