Saludos, en este nuevo martes, día de la mejor iniciativa musical de todo Hive: Three Tune Tuesday, del amigo @ablaze, que ya alcanza la edición número 140, y aquí estoy para compartir tres canciones, que también son parte de mi playlist personal, y que pertenecen a uno de los mejores cantantes de rock en español, el argentino FITO PÁEZ.
Greetings, on this new Tuesday, the day of the best musical initiative in all of Hive: Three Tune Tuesday, from friend @ablaze, which has already reached issue number 140, and here I am to share three songs, which are also part from my personal playlist, and that belong to one of the best rock singers in Spanish, the Argentine FITO PÁEZ.
A Fito Páez lo oí por primera vez a finales de los 80, y no fue en la radio de mi ciudad. Recuerdo que fue gracias a un cassette que llevó uno de mis primos a mi apartamento y allí lo oí y me pareció GENIAL, y si bien su voz no tenía para ese momento la madurez que alcanzó luego, su fuerza, sus letras y su excelencia como músico eran (y son), avasallantes, por lo que de inmediato quedé enganchada con su música. Y para que tengan una idea de la calidad e integralidad de este músico, basta decir que formó parte en los 80 de la banda del también rockero argentino Charly García, quien es todo un fenómeno de la música, y quien era y es aún, súper exigente respecto a la calidad y el profesionalismo de las personas que conforman su banda. Recordemos que Charly tiene una formación musical extensa a nivel de academia, y también tiene oído absoluto… Dicho esto, veamos mis canciones del #ttt de hoy.
I heard Fito Páez for the first time in the late 80s, and it wasn't on the radio in my city. I remember that it was thanks to a cassette that one of my cousins brought to my apartment and there I heard it and thought it was GREAT, and although at that time his voice did not have the maturity that it reached later, its strength, its lyrics and its excellence as musician were (and are), overwhelming, so I was immediately hooked on their music. And to give you an idea of the quality and integrity of this musician, it is enough to say that in the 80s he was part of the band of fellow Argentine rocker Charly García, who is a musical phenomenon, and who was and still is, super demanding regarding the quality and the professionalism of the people who make up his band. Let us remember that Charly has extensive musical training at the academy level, and also has absolute hearing... That being said, let's look at my #ttt songs today.
Ahora vamos con mis canciones / Now let's go with my songs
Abro mi trilogía de hoy, con la primera canción que oí de Fito Páez, la desgarradora y visceral: “Ciudad de pobres corazones”. Para ponerlos en contexto, y para quienes no lo saben, esta canción fue escrita y compuesta por Fito, a raíz del brutal asesinato de su abuela, de su tía abuela y de la mujer que asistía a estas dos ancianas en su casa, en el año 1986. Cabe señalar que Fito quedó huérfano de madre siendo un bebé, así que fue criado por su abuela y su tía abuela. El crimen fue muy violento, fueron literalmente masacradas, y el autor fue un excompañero de secundaria de Fito, La razón del crimen: Envidia, odio, o sea, maldad pura y dura. Esta tragedia destrozó al músico, sumiéndolo en una depresión profunda, que solo pudo canalizar a través de la música, creando el disco del mismo nombre. Al oír esta canción y conocer la historia detrás de ella, sentí una profunda tristeza, ante tan enorme pérdida y supe una vez más, que la maldad puede esconderse en cualquier esquina, en cualquier resquicio. Quise compartir con ustedes dos versiones de la misma canción: La primera es el video oficial de la misma, que corresponde a una presentación en vivo, del año 2008, y la segunda, es también en vivo, pero del año 2023. Me gusta la fuerza y el sentimiento con que este músico interpreta la canción en ambos videos, espero que aprecien la fuerza de ella.
I open my trilogy today, with the first song I heard by Fito Páez, the heartbreaking and visceral one: “City of Poor Hearts”. To put them in context, and for those who don't know, this song was written and composed by Fito, following the brutal murder of his grandmother, his great-aunt and the woman who assisted these two elderly women in their house, in the year 1986. It should be noted that Fito was orphaned by his mother as a baby, so he was raised by his grandmother and his great-aunt. The crime was very violent, they were literally massacred, and the author was a former high school classmate of Fito, The reason for the crime: Envy, hatred, that is, pure and simple evil. This tragedy destroyed the musician, plunging him into a deep depression, which he could only channel through music, creating the album of the same name. When I heard this song and learned the story behind it, I felt deep sadness in the face of such an enormous loss and I knew once again that evil can hide in any corner, in any crevice. I wanted to share with you two versions of the same song: The first is the official video for it, which corresponds to a live performance, from 2008, and the second, is also live, but from 2023. I like the strength and feeling with which this musician interprets the song in both videos. I hope you appreciate the strength of it.
Ahora vamos con mi segunda canción “Polaroid de locura ordinaria”, una hermosa y también visceral canción, que refleja cuán difícil, complicada e inclusive, destructiva, puede ser una relación amorosa. Si se presta atención a la letra, describe precisamente eso, una relación de pareja que pasa por encuentros, desencuentros, una relación súper intensa que finaliza con el suicidio de la mujer. Esta canción me gusta, porque en cierta época estuve en una relación de ese tipo, es decir, desastrosa, y gracias a esa experiencia comprendí, que no sólo hacen falta la atracción, el deseo de estar con alguien y los sentimientos que puedan estar allí, sino que se requieren puntos en común, claridad en las metas de ambos, sinceridad, tolerancia, comunicación y madurez. Now we go with my second song “Polaroid of ordinary madness”, a beautiful and also visceral song, which reflects how difficult, complicated and even destructive, a loving relationship can be. If you pay attention to the lyrics, it describes precisely that, a relationship that goes through encounters, disagreements, a super intense relationship that ends with the woman's suicide. I like this song, because at a certain time I was in a relationship of that type, that is, disastrous, and thanks to that experience I understood that not only attraction, the desire to be with someone and the feelings that may be there, are needed, but common points are required, clarity in the goals of both, sincerity, tolerance, communication and maturity. Y como siempre debe haber esperanza en el ser humano, especialmente en ese tema tan complejo que es el amor, las relaciones de pareja, hoy completo esta trilogía dedicada a Fito Páez con la hermosa y potente canción “El amor después del amor”, una canción con una melodía extraordinaria, y que aunque su letra no sea para tirar cohetes, nos hace un llamado a mantener la fe de que siempre podrá existir el amor para nosotros, siempre y cuando primero nos amemos a nosotros mismos, por resonancia, por afinidad, eso traerá el amor a nuestras vidas, (bueno, así interpreto yo esta canción). Esta canción me dio a mí esperanza y fe en conseguir el amor, y así fue. Disfruten de esta joya, de la cual les comparto el video oficial, que también es de una presentación en vivo.
And as there must always be hope in human beings, especially in that complex issue of love and relationships, today I complete this trilogy dedicated to Fito Páez with the beautiful and powerful song “Love after love”, a song with an extraordinary melody, and although its lyrics are nothing to write home about, it calls us to keep the faith that love can always exist for us, always and when we first love ourselves, by resonance, by affinity, that will bring love into our lives, (well, that's how I interpret this song).
