Three Tune Tuesday #156 .:. gypsy brass orchestra music

Hello my dear friends and music lovers! Today's #ttt post will be brief, the name is: Fanfare Ciocărlia, and I already presented you the music of this wonderful gypsy brass orchestra from Romania. Some of you might happen to get acquainted with their music from the notorious movie 'Borat' (2006). And, of course, they have much more great music and intresting covers to check. Enjoy!

Fanfare Ciocărlia – Sirba Moldovenească

I dont need to talk much about it - this music speaks for itself!

Fanfare Ciocărlia – Rumba Ţsiganeasca

_{(from «Iag Bari» LP; 2001)}

Again... not much I can say about this tune. It is an incendiary arrow directed right at your legs, hands, and body! If you dont feel anything when it hit you, well... you might be a insensitive person then, haha.

Fanfare Ciocărlia - Casablanca

_{(from «Baro Biao» LP; 1999)}

'Casablanca' is a classic love song created by Bertie Higgins for the same name movie (1942) starring the legends - Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman contributing to it becoming a runaway hit; and this is a brilliant instrumental cover version of the famous composition, maybe the best interpretation of original - saying it all even without words! God knows, this tune needed a powerful brass section. I insist this bittersweet song to be played at my funerals and everybody would dance to it.

In my opinion these are a rare exception to the overall rule 'They don't do it like that anymore! Lucky we. It gets more "beaty" and sucks you in as you go down the 3 tracks! How does it compare to say spanish gypsy music? less guitar I presume?

Well, I’m not a big connoisseur * expert of a Spanish guitar, hmm... the flamenco style is about elegant guitar technique, arpeggios I assume?.. but I might be wrong. Here there are no guitars, they are not needed, the process requires only a large brass section. At home, at their native village, they play music professionally for two usual occasions: funerals and weddings. One might say, thus, there is no art / creativity / self-expression in their music, just a narrow utilitarian range and “target market” 🤓

I am really happy if you enjoyed the music. !BEER

He is a talented guy, that brass is great sounding and a lot of fun! I liked his Casablanca cover, really well done. The extra brass really makes a huge difference! Very cool, I had never heard of him before, that's what I love about TTT!

I'd say it is not 'he', but 'them' -- full band is 12 jazzers. But they are skilled and soaked traditional music of their rural land in best way. Glad you enjoyed the tunes, and please let me treat you with a !BEER
