Hello Hive Music Lovers!,
Welcome to another #threetunetuesday created originally by @ablaze.
This week I feature an underrated band from the 80s who had some big hits but I think flew mostly under the radar, even with the extremely great talent of the lead singer Roland Gift.
They have quite a few good tunes and it will be hard to narrow it down, so I chose 3 that give a mix of their unqiue sound.
The first tune is probably one of their most famous ones and a masterpiece. I think probably only the tune She Drives Me Crazy is more well known that this one and it is also a great tune and a testament to the talent of the band.
If you were to describe the music, they are said to be a Pop Rock band which I would say is pretty right. They have quite a pop sound with a bit of rock to them with the guitars too.
The guys were also producing tunes well into the 90s and I have seen some live performances recently of Roland too. His voice is in good shape and he is still going strong!
Good Thing
The second tune for today is a different side to the band and a pretty deep and thoughtful one. Probably when you have one of those reflective moments, this is one of those bangers from the band to put on and bring some clarity.
It is a big change from some of their bigger hits and I think an untapped gem. The band were formed in Birmingham, UK but didn't actually have a number 1 single hit in the UK. I think they were well received in the UK at the time, so it is a suprise they were not hitting the number 1 spot. However, they did hit get a US number 1 twice.
I'm Not The Man I Used To Be
The final tune is another banger from the band and this time another great sound and showcase of the talent of Roland. Not only is his voice epic, he is busting some cool dance moves here too!
This tune has a more 80s vibe and synth wave feel to it and is of course a cover version of the awesome Buzzcocks tune Ever Fallen In Love. Although the original is hard to beat, I think they did a pretty decent cover version.
They have got a few great cover versions under their belt and this is one of my favorites with that 80s synth-wave vibe, plus loving the original! haha
Ever Fallen In Love
That wraps up my #ttt for this week. I hope you are having a great musical Tuesday. What are you listening to this week?
For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday.... to quote @ablaze :
The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize.
Be sure to head over and give @ablaze some support as without his great work, we wouldn't have a #ttt.
